Wow! They were amazing. My random thoughts....(Warning:If you're going to an upcoming concert you may not want to read!)

~"The Reflex" was my least favorite song on the 7atRT album but I'd never heard it live before. That song was made to be played live. They nailed it.

~Astronaut songs...Loved "Nice" before last night. Love it even more now. "Chains" is one of my favorites and it was incredible last night. "What Happens Tomorrow" was beautiful. They also played "Astronaut" and "Sunrise"...not my favorites on the album but they played them well.

~I got my wish to see "Hold Back the Rain" live but was more impressed with "Careless Memories".

~Our seats were fine. We had great views of all 5 guys. The people around us were very mellow though. We were in the front row of our section and nobody behind us was standing and dancing. We didn't want to block anybody's view so we stayed in our seats for half the show. Halfway through though we figured screw 'em and got up and danced. I did notice alot of people didn't know the non-#1's and the new stuff they were playing. Hopefully, the show encouraged people to buy Astronaut.

~Simon stole the show. Don't know if it's because he's always been my favorite or if it's because he was the lead singer but I had to remind myself to look at the other guys too. He was great with the audience and you could tell he was having fun.

~The opening act Imarobot sucked. The lead singer was really shrilly. The music sounded ok but the lead singer had to go. We left our seats during their performance because he was giving us such a headache.

~We found a cute little "British pub" next to the venue where we were able to have dinner and drinks before the show.

~I bought my 4 y/o daughter a shirt, myself a shirt, a mouse pad and a program. I was disappointed in all of the shirts that only had youth sizes available. Had they kept stuff in stock I know they would have made more money off of me. Programs were $45 and are really cool. Neat momento of the show.

~I still can't talk above a strong whisper which my kids are loving. We screamed, and sang, and danced. It was incredible.

~I couldn't believe all of the people that still have their clothes from the '80's tucked in their closets. Saw a lot of fashion crimes. My favorite: Woman in her early 40's in brilliant blue capri pants. Made of the same material as parachute pants. She had on a low cut, floral print, rayon shirt. And the kicker~fluffly, pink snow boots. I don't know what look or decade she was trying to capture.

~All in all, what an incredible night.

I saw them last weekend at the Staples center in LA. We had kind of high, yet AWSOME seats! Front row in front of a private box with NO ONE behind us. We rocked out! I too thought "Careless Memories" was awsome....I wasn't that happy with "Girls on Film", but everything else was better than I wished for!

We saw a friend from highschool there and she was all decked out in 80's garb, that I remember her wearing back then. It was too funny.

I too LOVE Simon, so you bet this was great, all the guys from my viewpoint looked good considering the years. We had seen them when it was just Simon and Nick at the Anaheim House of Blues years ago, and they looked so freakish, it was good to see all of them together and looking nice and sounding incredible! ***sigh***

Glad you saw the thread Claire. I thought of you while I was typing it. I can't wait to hear about your concert....you're gonna love it! Whew~glad I was able to stop you from wearing those snow boots! ;)

jdramj.....I had heard that the L.A. show was a lot of fun. I wasn't overly impressed with Girls on Film either. I liked the introductions during it but was hoping for more audience interaction after they finished the intros. I saw them in 2003 on the reunion tour in SF and they really worked the crowd with GoF. It seemed to fizzle at the end this time. When I heard Ordinary World come up, I thought that was going to be the big disappointment for me. I've heard Simon mangle the notes on that song when it's been played live. But he nailed them this time. It seemed they were on with pretty much everything. Great night!

I tell you the difference between Simon at the House of Blues vs. this tour is amazing. He looked great and sounded great. I was a little worried. Even when I saw them on Leno a while ago, I didn't think he looked or sounded that good, but the band is in top form now! WOOOHOO!

What did you think of their cartoon? LOL! I was cracking up! My DH was amazed they played "Cauffeur". I wouldn't not have thought they'd play that song in concert, but then again I wasn't expecting "Hold back the Rain" and "careless Memories" either. What an awsome treat that was!

The cartoon for CM cracked me up. In the tour book there is a comic book of that cartoon. It looks like whoever put that together had fun with it.

Chauffeur sounded great live. I guess they'd been rotating between The Chauffeur and Nightboat. I was glad we got The Chauffeur. I like Nightboat but prefered to see the other one. I loved Si's chauffeur outfit. Cracked me up. I would have loved to have seen Bedroom Toys live. I bet the band could've really entertained the crowd with that one.

When did you see them at HoB? Was it after John left? From my understanding, once John left Simon was ready to throw in the towel too. I think it was a good thing they reunited when they did because Nick would've looked awfully funny trying to carry the DD torch by himself. That's one of the things that gets me now when I watch the band...they seem genuinely happy to be back playing together. It's such a "feel good" feeling watching them.

It was ages ago....Simon and Nick only for Pop Trash, I believe. I don't even remember it that well becuase I was so disappointed in it. See I wanted to see them in concert for "Seven and the ..." tour, but my parents said no. So HoB was my first chance and it was not what I fanatsized about as a teenager.....go figure.

I must admit, after this thread I had to go out on the web and do some DD research....ah the memories.

"Nightboat"! I would have died! (Well if I were still a smitten Simon loving teenager-LOL!) I love that song and I did say afterwards..."I would have loved to hear Nightboat". I was surprised they didn't play "Is there Something I should Know"

I'm way too excited. :)

I'm starting to freak out! :D We're going as a huge group in the 22nd and 23rd rows (friend works for KGW and got media group rate), then a few people started buying better seats, so I decided to look into it too....and man, I lucked out!!! :snap:

I'm scooting! They confiscated cameras last night in Seattle, so I'm just bringing a camera phone. :p

HAVE FUN!!!!!

What a fantastic show! DD sounded so great and our seats were excellent. I was a bit surprised to see that there were so many empty seats. Many more than I would have thought. There was even an entire section almost completely empty (near the back middle of the garden). Strange. A lot of people missed out on an amazing show.

Ima Robot was good. I like their sound but they didn't get a good response from the audience. The lead singer seemed extremely cocky for someone that I would guess most people in the audience hadn't ever heard of. They might have gotten a better welcome had they been hyped up a little more. I didn't even know there would be an opening act and if so, who it was going to be. I had to laugh though when the biggest applause/cheer they got was when they announced "this'll be our last song".

Saw many interesting wardrobe choices. There was a girl behind us who was wearing ankle boots with hot pink socks rolled over the top. Lots of glitzy shirts, big hair and even a few folks daring enough to wear the (tmi) leather pants.

When did going to a concert become like seeing a hockey game? There were so many vendors walking around screaming "popcorn, peanuts, red rope". I thought I should have been listening to some AC/DC watching my Winterhawks warm up. Haha. I was thankful for my Strawberry lemonaide thought. :snap:

Hey Claire, were with the group that had the "Portland Feeling So Nice" sign?

Don't tell me she ditched her hubby and ran away on the tour bus!!! ;) :p

She's probably just recovering! It is a great show.

I didn't know who that opening act was....I made our group go in to hear them and then I got teased the rest of the night because they sounded so horrible! LOL!

Oh. My. GOD!!!

That was the BEST show!!! Our seats were seventh row center, near the aisle on the Andy side, so Simon was directly in front of us!!!! My dream come true!! He looked so flipping HOT, that I was DYING. I jumped up and down, danced and sang the entire time!! It was really the most amazing show!!! :snap:

There were two guys in front of us who had four seats, so in the middle of Hungry Like the Wolf (second song?) they asked my friend and I to join them and they were a lot of fun--totally into it and really cute!!! Small world--they knew our friend Adam (who was in the third row) and ended up joining all of us for drinks after the show--weird!!! Portland is so freaking small! So then we got to talking when we joined the larger group and we pretty much knew allllll the same people from high school, college and beyond.

That banner was directly in front of me, but luckily didn't block our view! The people in the 4th row were NOT happy! ;) I still thought it was pretty cool, though!

I started crying a little during Come Undone.....reminds me of my friend Doug who was a Duranaholic in junior high and high school and used to have this THING for Nick Rhodes (he once told me he orally pleasured Nick!! ). He was a roadie for them one summer--his parents knew someone at Duran's label, so he got an "internship" that pretty much consisted of doing drugs with them. Anyway, Doug died of AIDS-related cancer 6-7 years ago, and the song made me come unglued.

I was SO afraid they wouldn't play Reflex--it wasn't on the playlist--since they'd sang it the night before in Seattle and they were supposedly singing it every other show. We got lucky!!! That was the best!!!

They finished up with Rio and Girls on Film and everyone went nuts! It was an awesome ending. Simon looked HOT in his 1978 shirt. Damn, that man looks SOOOOO good!!!

Roger also looked great. Nick looked scary, Andy had that damn cigarette hanging out of his mouth and dark glasses (and why didn't I know the man was like 3 feet tall? ) and John looked botoxed with a scary hair color and hair line. Other people thought he looked great, but I've always been a Simon girl.

I got a great picture of a girl at Cucina before the show....very funny. She was Madonna-ed out and let me take the pic. We hung out there for about an hour and had a few glasses of wine. We completely missed I'm a Robot....had heard that they sucked....and went in and took our seats right at 9 p.m.

Only one pair of panties was flung. And no, they weren't mine. :D

I sent dsnylndmom a text telling her how young and thin I felt!! The average age had to have been about 35, I think.

Afterward, we met up with our group, which ended up being large.....and headed to Cucina. It's just so nice when we all get together for this stuff!! It's so much fun! What was weird was that we saw another group of people our age from our neighboring hometown!! We took the Max downtown to Rock Bottom and this huge group was there from Astoria. We visited with them for a while. God, Oregon is small!!

I'm working on 4 hours of sleep.....I think I'm still a little drunk!!! I was supposed to work at Chloe's preschool today, but just as I walked in, Courtney's school secretary called to tell me that she was sick, so I ran to get her and now she's sleeping.....I should be, too!

They all looked good from the stadium seats. ;)

Sounds like you had a great time!

Sounds incredible!!! I'm totally jealous of your seats~how incredibly lucky! Very cool!!!!!!!

I knew you were just going to have a blast. Simon looked fabulous in the 1978 shirt~liked that better than the Armani.

Glad you got to hear Reflex. I loved that song live.

So, are you totally hoarse? It took me almost 3 days to get my voice back completely.

Simon was just incredible. I mean, the band was wow. But Simon was just....wow.

You didn't miss anything with Imarobot. They were soooooo bad.

I thought half the fun was hanging out with the people that I hadn't hung out with since high school. We were all such diehard Duran freaks.

My daughter is still running around in her DD t-shirt telling anybody who'll listen who is who in the pictures. I've created such a little geek. :D

I'm so glad your show was incredible and you had such fun!

Yes! I've been hoarse all day! I lost my voice totally last night about 1 a.m., then I knew it was time to head home. I got it back sometime in the afternoon!
