I would seriously consider getting a Wii for THIS Game (http://www.amazon.com/Thrillville-Off-Rails-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000R39IW6/ref=pd_sim_t_shvl_img_4/104-0044461-9159937)

Sounds awesome -- I wonder what about the game is Wii-specific (it's also being released on the Xbox360 and PC).
I don't have a gamefly subscription and it isn't the type of game I'd buy sight unseen (i.e. like I would SUPER MARIO GALAXY which comes out in a week and a half, yessssssssssss).
Now that I've been playing the Wii again I've realized that I really hate the controller anytime it is important that it be pointed at the screen. It is cool for games where it doesn't have to be, but for when it does (that is, for any regular game ported to the Wii) it is horribly designed and uncomfortable over any length more than a few minutes.
I'd like the option of an old fashioned controller for those games better suited to one.

^^ What about Resident Evil 4? That one you have to have it pointed at the screen, but I just sit down and have the Wiimote resting on a pillow at my side. I don't have my arm out or anything.

Yes, I just stopped battling Lou about 30 seconds ago.
Haven't tried RE4, but I assume it is a gun game and playing one with the Wii remote doesn't sound fun to me. I have four regular games and the remote wears on me after a few minutes of each.

RE4 is great on the Wii- your shots are easier to line up and the target turns red when it's dead on. It seems more accurate, especially when sniping. I just picked up RE4 out of boredom, and am now a total addict. A lot of gamers say the graphics are better than the PS2 version.

How far have you gotten?? I'm at the end of Chapter 2 and it's taken FOREVER to get that far since I keep dying. I don't know if I just suck or what, but all those areas where you have mass villagers running at you are HARD! (I am getting *somewhat* better tho after buying the guide. I just hate that you cannot buy ammo!)
The other horror game I played on the Wii that was a Gamecube game is "Eternal Darkness:Sanity's Requiem". HIGHLY recommended, it takes lots of cues from Lovecraft... very awesome storyline and "sanity effects" (your character has a sanity meter and lots of "fourth wall" stuff happens when you start going batty).

I've run through the game three times, so I have some really good weaponry- you get to carry stuff over and new purchases of serious hardware open up. Also, Leon and Ashley get new outfits- Ashley looks like a Vegas slut, circa 1977. Right now I'm doing a mini-game in which Ada has to get five samples of the plagas, and there is no save game in this one. I can't get past machine-gun guy, and it's pissing me off. (Since it's an Ada run I can't use Leon's stuff).
With regards to ammo, try not to re-load prior to upgrades- when you bump up your weapons capacity, it gives you full ammo. Have you tried setting back and using your rifle? It's nice because it only takes one shot, and if you have the villagers funneling through a doorway or tunnel you can take out two or more with a single shot.

Hmmm I'll try using the rifle more... I need more room tho first! I LOVE the shotgun (that is, unless I miss and accidentally blow off their heads, releasing the plagas). I just always seem to be running out of room in my teeny tiny bag (I've only been able to upgrade once). Its like, I have a TON of money from all the crap I've found but nothing to spend it on!
Right now I've been mostly sticking to the Punisher (when do you get the Blacktail?) and the Shotgun. I have the TMP as well but I don't find that TOO useful as it eats a LOT of Ammo. Really, that's all I have room for in my bag right now!
Things take a LOT of ammo to take down...right now I am stuck on the end boss of the Village, who turned into this giant spider thingy. I killed his first form with a LOT LOT LOT of ammo, and then he starts swinging around the room, and fracks me up REAL fast!!

Are you in the barn with the village elder? If so, when he splits and turns into that creature it will give you enough time to run around and pick up supplies. (There is a ladder to the left of the entrance and you can find stuff up there). If you run around and dodge him he won't do as much damage, and then just periodically shoot your shotgun or rifle at him. Eventually he'll die, and you can get the eye from him to let you through that gate. What size attache case do you have? If you have to, dump the crappy handgun and get a better gun. I can't remember when I picked up the Blacktail, but I will say that an upgraded TMP really kicks ass. (The first stage one is wimpy, though). Whenever you can, upgrade your weapons. You can always backtrack to a merchant to do so.

I don't know why I keep clicking in here since I'm at work with one last project to do and I really *really* want to play Resident Evil 4 now /wahwahwah
Thanks for the tips wendybeth! I'll try ol' spiderplaga again tonite. I can kill his first form easy, but wow, that second form is a doozy! It hits for a LOT and I have trouble timing a dodge.

Cherny, I just picked up a 'Chicago Typewriter', which costs 1,000,000 pesetas and has infinite firepower with no reloading. I killed SpideyPlagas dude before his legs even quite running around the room.:D
(Although infinite firepower sort of takes the challenge out of the whole thing).

Damn!!! LOL I don't usually play games over but that sounds pretty cool.
Tho the game is wierd in that sense -- that the first run thru is ridiculously hard, and then it gets easier due to more firepower in subsequent runthrus. Oh well! I've been noodling around in FFIX tonite but just about to get to Mr. Spidey plaga :) This is what I get for having too many options with video games..... ;)

I beat the big spider guy in Re4, yay!
That blind thing in the cell with the big claws (in the castle), where you had to destroy the plaga on its back.... OMG I freaking screamed when it came alive, that was so scary hahaha
In other news: SUPER MARIO GALAXY COMES OUT TOMORROW. I played it at Gamestop last week and it is super fun. Reviews for it are giving it very very high grades!

Lol- the guy in the prison? I jumped back and dropped the remote! Between that guy and the chainsaw guys in the mercenary section, I'm gonna have a heart attack. Oh, and have you got to the Hellraiser guys yet? (I think they're called regenerators, or something like that). Very scary.

I haven't gotten to the regenerators yet. My god RE4 is good on the Wii -- I was WAY too frustrated with the Gamecube version since I couldn't even get past the FIRST SET of villagers due to annoying aiming issues, so I never played past the first few screens.
HOWEVER.... I bought SUPER MARIO GALAXY the other day which you absolutely must get. It is SO addicting, SO much fun (parts are frustrating too of course, but that's normal Mario game play).
I've played SMG about 5 hours total now and it's an absolute must-own on the Wii. There's SO much to explore, the only reason I turn the dang thing off is when I need to go to sleep.
On the recommendation here of it being a good "regular" game for the Wii I got RE4. So far I am mostly enjoying it. But I still find the way I have to hold the Wii stick controller un-ergonomic. Especially since I tend to continue aiming with it even when there is no need. So eventually I am leaning in weird ways. But it works better for me than I would have expected.
One odd thing is that from PC gaming I am used to controlling movement with my left hand and aiming/firing with my right. This is fine for me since I am ambidextrous when it comes to mouse usgae. But this apparently does not extent to the Wii controller. I simply can not aim accurately with my right hand so I have to use the "stick" in my left and the nunchuck in my right.
But that is my own problem.
The only other weird things are
1) It has been a long time since I've played such a path limited game (that is you can't walk places because of invisible walls placed there by the game.
2) Over the should first person shooting is annoying.

Alex found out about some cover things for the wiimote that I think you get for free from Nintendo. Guess they're grippy and it's Nintendo's way of getting out of some liability. You might look into it.

I got them in the mail the other day, and actually I really like the grippies.
I think they did it in response to people dropping the Wiimote and breaking them (I mean DUH use the wrist strap, but whatever).
The only think I don't like about em is that I have to peel the bottom part a little upways or take it off entirely to charge the Wiimote (I have one of those Nyko rechargeable battery stands).
But it is cool that nintendo sent me 4 free ones in the mail, just like they did for the wrist strappies. You do it off of the website, just enter your Wii serial # and SHAZAM! a few weeks later you'll have your nifty covers.
