The Scene
Prior to the book signing and reading, a nice walk to Haight and Masonic to Magnolia for a bite to eat. It was my first visit to Magnolia and I will go back, no question about it.

Yes, it is true, everythig is better with bacon. I could not resist the gnocchi, and I was in no way dissapointed in the entree, it was rich, yummy and if I am still thinking about it now nearly 24 hours later it means I need to find a recipe to re-create at home. It was comfort food and it was totally delicious! ****'s totally.

The menu is small, but varied. My dinner companions had the Artichoke heart & chickpea salad (which was pronounced yummy) and a burger (also yummy) and pickled veggies and the sweet potato and root vegetable pot pie. The crust on the pot pie was described as divine. One of the companions had one of the house made beers and said it was great.

The only downside was that coversation was difficult, not so much due to crowding, but the family party at the two tables next to us, the 6 kids next to us made it hard to hear conversation. Not the fault of the pub, at all. Just bad seating karma.

If you're in town, and in the Haight and hungry, I found this to be a good place to stop.
