What are you looking forward to in the New Year?

What plans do you have? What things are going on in your life that look like they'll be improving in the coming year? What are your hopes for the year to come:confused:

***

For me... I am very encouraged by the plans to freeze interest rates on certain adjustable mortgages, because our mortgage seems to fall in the group that qualify for the freeze. This will totally save our butts. :D

Not only that, but it'll help stabilize pricing in the market in general. May take a couple months, but it should stop the bleeding. Once prices stop dropping, there are a lot of fence-sitters who will finally jump back into the market and buy. That means I'll make some deals and we'll be doing better financially, which will also totally save our butts and make life a little more pleasant.

As far as hopes... I hope someone buys early, so I can afford to go on the Panama Canal cruise, because I'm really looking forward to that trip! I've never been on a cruise, nor have I ever been south of the US border (with the exception of Hawaii, which is also US-owned land), so I'm looking forward to seeing Mexico for the first time AND going through the Panama Canal (which was my main motivation for going on the cruise).

I also expect to have a darn good time with my new third job on the "railroad". Not only will it bring in a little extra money, but it will also be fun. And the discounts don't suck either :snap:

what is behind me will now be further behind
whats lies ahead will be now closer than before
my direction will be forward instead of facing into the past and walking blindly backward

my now will be mine alone
no more excuses
no more blame
no more baggage

or die trying

lets rock

(with the exception of Hawaii, which is also US-owned land)I don't know if I would say that Hawaii is "US-Owned" since it is one of them pesky 50 United States.

Yikes, I'm just not ready for this kind of year end coming of the new year thinking despite the rapid passing of time - but I'll journal about this and get back to you later ;)

I'm looking forward to moving out of the Valley, into Hollywood, and getting a cute doggy whom I will name Betty Suarez-Levy.

And yes, I do want to take the Cheese Man with me, he's the best roommate I've ever had (you know -- clean, easy to talk to, not a meth dealer...).

Will that happen this year? I hope so, really. But if it doesn't, I'm enjoying the status quo.

My bank will finally stop bothering me about post-dating all my cheques 2008.

2008. I'm ready and not for you.

As I say goodbye to the amazing year that was 2007 I look forward to new memories, new friends and more amazing funness.

You'll start out with something I wasn't sure would ever come. A Garth Brooks concert. x 2. You're also bringing some joy to two people who suffered through more crap in 2007 than any 2 people should.

You'll see many trips taken, many classes completed and maybe even graduation and if things play out, a purchase of property.

May your disappointments and challenges be few and far between. May you be good to my friends and loved ones. May you bring peace to old wounds and to those who seek it.

2008, I'm not ready for you yet. But I'm looking forward to your arrival when it is time.

2008 will suck because it will mostly be a year of people who don't give a damn about politics deciding to pay attention for a couple hours to some preferred talking head, deciding this makes them informed, and then they will regurgitate whatever they heard, quite vociferously on the assumption that they've attained a state of profound understanding.

Then we'll all vote and everybody will think that a half of the population that doesn't include them is full of morons and they'll all be right.

It is kind of like how every four years people suddenly pretend to care about and understand short track speed skating. Only much more annoying.

2008 will be great because I'm really at a point in my "professional" life where I've reached a good intersection of

1. Making more money than is reasonable.
2. Not having too much work related stress.
3. Time to spend the money in ways that will please me.
4. Youth and health enough to have the energy to use that time.

By the end of 2008 I'll have been in the same job for more than 2 years and from that point on it is downhill as I grow bored with the sameness of going to the same place every day until I find some reason get off the cart and start over somewhere else. And that will be good too.

I'm not one who spends much time in anticipation of what is to come. I'm a live in the moment kind of guy.

How about this afternoon?

I'm going to my favorite pizza place for lunch today with my coworkers.
I have a basketball game today.
I get a hug from my 6 year old when I pick her up from school.

That's about as far ahead as I go. But thanks for asking.

I will complete my second marathon on January 13.

I will move to France in February to live there for about 6 months. Tour day France in July! I am very much looking forward to this, although I would have liked to have had more time to polish up my language skills.

Did you see this (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071207/ap_on_bi_ge/mortgage_crisis;_ylt=Anp_woGFkQXyBgWVN9LdAzqs0NUE) ? Looks like only a very small percentage of interest rates will be frozen.

Only a fraction of the homeowners who face huge jumps in their mortgage payments appear likely to be helped by the plan, negotiated by the Bush administration, to freeze the low introductory rates on their subprime loans for five years. After that, they could be in the same position again.

My project for 2006 was getting my finances straightened out. Done.

2007 was all about improving my health. Well on the way.

2008? It's wide open. Maybe time to concentrate on my career. Get an agent. Do some straight theatre. Branch out off the stage.

Maybe develop a social life. Go on a date or two.

or not.
