OBERLIN, Kan. - A postcard featuring a color drawing of Santa Claus and a young girl was mailed in 1914, but its journey was slower than Christmas. It just arrived in northwest Kansas. And I have customers who complain when their mail is just one day late!

The whole story (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071215/ap_on_fe_st/odd_long_lost_card).

One cent? How much did it cost to send a postcard 30 years before that?

Here's wiki entry on the postage rates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_United_States_Postal_Service_rates)

Wow. On July 31, 1958 a first-class stamp cost just as much as on March 3, 1863. They should have eaten the cost and kept the same price for a full century.

I bet this was Amelie's handiwork.

Strange, according to the Wiki chart, it was 2 cents at the time it was mailed (perhaps that's why it got delayed in the first place?). And it was 3 cents 30 years prior.
