And so it was, that on this Christmas eve, Morrigoon journeyed to the city of Aliso Viejo, where she would use her gift card to indulge in an eggnog latte.

But lo, there was no room for her in the store, for as she arrived, she found a sign upon the door which said there would be no eggnog latte today, or any other specialty drinks either, for there were plumbing issues, which made all the people weep with grief.

But two angels of the Starbucks, their barista aprons flapping, appeared to her at that humble storefront, and they said, "Fear not, for we bring you glad tidings of great joy." And thereupon they offered up to her a free cup of their Christmas Blend coffee. For they would not send their customers away empty handed, but grant them gifts of their abundance this holiday season.

And Morrigoon did fill her cup with half and half, and Splenda, and into that she did pour the free coffee, and was much pleased.

And lo, plumbing issues were a plague visited across the land. Starbuckses near and far offered complimentary Holiday Blend in the stead of more complicated beverages. And the barristas said, "Drink!" and tho the people were sore *ss irritated they drank, and said, "Mmm, it is good. And it is free. And free is good. It is double-plus good. May I have a refill?"

Is it a secret plot to get people to use up the Damned Holiday Blend so we're not still drinking it in April?

Well, at first I did wonder if they were just giving away coffee as a holiday thank you. But then there was the sign for the plumbing. It does explain why those poor girls had to wait an hour and a half for a plumber to even arrive.
