View Full Version : Back by poplar demand (aka by request of Allybell) What's in your shower caddy?

This one's for you babe ;)
It's always fun to learn what products other people like to use and/or swear by... And you may find something new to try.
I have way to much stuff to fit in my shower caddy so it's also all over my shower too.
I have 3 Philosophy 3-in-1s. Apple Cider, Strawberry Ice Cream and Raspberry Sherbet. I also have Garnier Frutise shampoo & conditioner, the face wash from my Bare Escentials kit, Dove face wash, 2 bottles of B&BW body wash in Orange and Apple, a tube of St. Ives apricot scrub, a bottle of Dove body wash and a can of Skintimate shaving gel in citruis and a Venus razor
Since I have a hard time justifying the cost of the B&BW stuff when it's not on a 6/$30 sale and the cost of Philosophy I suppliment with the store bought stuff.
What do you have? What do you love? What do you say *run screaming from*?

All I have is a BIG bottle of Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo (the one for normal to oily hair with the rosemary in it) and a buff-puff and a cake of "Nutters Dairy Soap - the original udder soap"
Yes, the same soap used to bring pleasure and cleanliness to the udders of those hppy cows in the milking barn is used on Lashbear's body. Why ??
Because I have sensitive skin, and Nutters Dairy Soap has NO colour, NO fragrance, is pure (after all, some of it's bound to get into the milk we drink) and has Lanolin to keep my udder... er, skin soft. - and the dermatologist years ago told me I could either buy special soap for sensitive skin at $2 - $3 per cake, OR I could buy this stuff in bulk (a gross, in fact) from a dairy supplier for just $0.06c per cake. Which option to take? You decide ! :D

LashBear, you should know that I read the name of your soap as "nutter butter" like the cookie. I think I'm hungry.

Mmm, Nutter Butters....
I also have the Garnier Fructisse shampoo and conditioner, some Shwartzkopf shampoo for color-treated hair (which really seems to work well), Neutrogena facial wash, St. Ives apricot scrub and also some "energizing" body wash (citrus-y smell), a can of generic shaving cream, Philosophy's Gingerbread Man scrub, and a carrot-based face soap by Burt's Bees that I am really liking. An unscented soap for the husband. One razor each. I think that's it. We just cleaned out some of the more empty bottles and consolidated some stuff.

We don't have a shower caddy (won't fit on the new shower head) but we have a 4-slot thing that sticks on the wall. And the walls of the tub have flat space on top so we can put stuff there.
One for shampoo, one for conditioner (these rotate regularly as far as scent), one for my clarifying shampoo, and one for body wash. It's hubby's shampoo and conditioner and body wash; I have my own. I use an imported Greek shampoo (olive oil and rosemary), and currently I've got a ginger and orange body wash. I have an Aveeno face wash (soy-based). I have a sugar scrub from Trader Joe's that I haven't decided if I like or not. I really liked the one I had from SkinMarket but they're gone now.
Girlfriend has a shampoo and conditioner and some other stuff. Hopefully her stuff will all move to the other bathroom soon. We just need to fix the floor in there and she'll get that as hers. She tends to have a million bottles of stuff but has been allowed a maximum of 4 bottles in my shower at any given time. Else there would be no room for mine.
All my bath salts and oils and what-not are in a bin next to the tub; not needed for the average shower.

My shower caddy is actually empty right now, however, on the ledge of my tub I have:
Cetaphil face wash
Sephora Triple layer cake 3 in 1
Philosophy Believe in Miracles 3 in 1 (I only use 3 in 1's as body wash)
Tons of shampoos and conditioners....Redken (my favorite), Nexxus, Frederic Fekkai, & a brand I'm totally blanking on that my mom gave me.

Some generic shampoo
Bumble and Bumble Curl conditioner (or some other curl conditioner)
Oil of Olay Age Defying Cleanser
Mistral soap - the ONLY soap we will use (mail order only)
A Pumice Stone
A Razor
A thing that looks like a parm cheese grator for your feet
Trador Joe's Aloe Vera Shaving lotion
We're pretty sinple except for the bumble and bumble and mistral. I really hate having lots of stuff in my shower.

Damn but we are boring.
Shampoo and conditioner that was on sale. Can't remember what brand.
bottle of lavender scented body wash that was a gift and I can't remember what brand.
bar of apple/pear/peach scented soap that was a gift and I can't remember what kind.
Tube of Body Shop exfoliating scrub that was a gift (but I remember what brand!)
I'm going to have to buy some of this Philosophy stuff so that my shower caddy doesn't feel left out.

Question for you......Does Sephora make scents that are not, um, baked good/candy store scents or do they follow the Philosophy theory that ants need to love us. (Sorry, everyone here KNOWS I HATE that cnady/drink stuff.)

I'm definitely not the right person in my household to post to this thread, but since Heather has yet to hang in the lounge, I feel it would be remiss to not ask you all what you think of LUSH products? H is originally a Canadian gal, and we used to stock up on the stuff whenever we visited her family in Vancouver. A couple of years ago, they opened up their first US store here in San Francisco.
I'm partial to their Red Rooster soap, but Heather is a lot more adventurous than me, so our caddy always has some neat-smelling natural Lush product on one of the shelves.

I'm only aware of their one 3 in 1, and it's Cake "flavored" so as far as I know they follow the Philosophy philosophy (sorry, had to say it like that. :) )
I used to hate the idea of the food smelling body washes/perfumes (like Demeter stuff) but last year I wanted a 3 in 1 for my mission trip, so I grabbed a Philosophy, and I found that I never smelled it once I was out of the shower (and to my relief, since it was Margarita "flavored" I think, no one said, OMG, you smell like you've been drinking.)
Also, although I haven't used it, only smelled it....I think the Philosophy "Believe in Miracles" 3 in 1 doesn't smell like food....and the proceeds go to the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

You evil evil woman!!!!!!!!!!!
NA, Philosophy is making a few non-food/drink smells 3 in 1s now. I think one is part of their "Grace" line and one is in their "falling in love" line. Ooo Along with Deathers, I also saw one with the procedes going to breast cancer research. I just saw the pink ribbon, didn't pay attention to what it was called.

I'll smell the Believe in Miracles one next time I'm in Sephora (which hasn't been much lately - I've been at the MAC counter) If it doesn't smell like cake, margarita, strawberry sunday or such, I may try it. Thanks for pointing that out.

As much as I am a sucker for all things sweet, I know how you feel. I use a wonderful bath gel that I think you might really enjoy! Molton Brown Black Pepper Re-Charge Body Cleanser.
It's actually part of Molton Brown's Men Line. However, I find it's delicious on either gender. It's certainly not sweet. It's a little spicy, very clean & brings to mind a fresh peppercorn. I love how awake it makes me feel! My favorite combo? Black Pepper Body Cleanser followed by L'Occitane's Nectar De Massage. It doubles as a moisturizing milk, and is scented just like pure honey. However, it's not sticky sweet or candy-esque. It reminds me of a hot cup of herbal tea & honey. :)
I absolutely love Molton Brown & L'Occitane! I provided two links in case you are interested. I think you would just love Molton Brown's line, as well as L'Occitane. :)

OOOOH! I already like L'Occitane. I have a scent I sometimes wear called Verbena. I's just green and fresh enough for me (Or it was until a-hole NirvanaMan said I smelled like Lemon Pledge  - what does he know anyways)
The Molton Brown is interesting, but where do you find it? UK only?
My signature scent is Eau de Givency. I've been wearing it for years and years and I get Oooooh you smell sexy over and over, so I'm not messinng to much with that one. It's on the green side of things too with just a small touch of floral. I love it and it doesn't overpower me (which you would think would be hard to do);)

The kids have orange shampoo and grape conditioner, I have my philosophy gingerbread man scrub, a philosophy margarita 3-in-1 body wash, and I'm finishing up the pumpkin pie 3-in-1. It's basically Not Afraid's nightmare. :D
Other than the smelly stuff, I'm using a Biolage shampoo, Federic Fekkai deep conditioning crap, and I've started using a Biolage gloss spray that I leave in the shower, so I can spray it on before I get out of the shower (otherwise, I forget).
I have a philosophy 3 minute micro scrub (greatest love) for my face and the MD formulas face wash from the bare minerals kit.
It's been a little full in there lately, but it's all good stuff......couldn't choose something to leave out!

OMG! You got that right!. :shudder:
However, the only Philosophy product I own is the Gingerbread Man Scrub. I even forgot I have it because I make such a MESS when I use it. I either shiver standing naked in the shower/tub or I'm spilling little gingerbread crystals all over my bathroom. What amd I doing wrong?
You know, there's a reason I find a product and stick with it for years. :dork:

My shower is my oasis. I like to make each trip to the shower & bath a soothing treat. I relax, meditate, plan my day, unwind at night, decision make and have the occasional epiphany. I do all of my thinking under the steamy, blissful spray.
I like to keep my shower filled with lots of soothing scents, decorative bottles & of course, my three yellow rubber duckies that keep a watchful eye from their shelf while I rub-a-dub-dub. And I'm addicted to candles. I love to light my Grace scented Tocca candle lit while I detoxify.
It looks like a HUGE list, but actually, it all fits neatly on my shower shelf (I'm actually caddyless) Plus, showers & baths are my biggest indulgence! :)
You asked for it, BarTopDancer! My shower goodies! :D

Lush solid shampoo bar (this is Phil's)
I used my sister's fiance's once, they're pretty cool! I loooove Lush! I took Courtney there not long ago and she got her first Lush lotion.
I LOVE philosophy's Falling in Love stuff. The blackberry smell is incredible....it's literally like being near a blackberry patch on a warm summer day....
NA~~ I used my gingerbread scrub on my back (I need help ;) ) and before I shave my legs. I only use it in the shower, and YES, it totally makes a mess, but I love it soooo much. It's my husband's absolute favorite philosophy product.....and yes, he actually has many favorite philosophy products. :D He loves all the 3-in-1's. He's the one that got me started on them.

Claire, you should try the Falling in Love fragrance. It's pretty light (I remember you're quite sensitive to most fragrances, right?) and soooooo yummy! I got my 3 in 1 as part of a set for about $40 - 3 in 1 and 2 oz fragrance:)
The Gingerbread Man scrub is totally on my wishlist - I love anything gingery.
Is there Lush in Portland yet? I know they're slowly opening around the States - Portland seems like the sort of place they might do well in too. My Lush store is about 10 minutes walk from my office ~ it's very tempting sometimes!

Mmm Lush! All of this Lush lingo made me realize I forgot to post my Buffy The Backside Slayer Bar! :)
Count me in as a Lush Lover! My very favorites are the I Should Cocoa & Sea Vegetable soaps. The actual coconut flakes on the Cocoa soap make me feel as if I'm lathering my body with a big, pink Hostess Snowball. It's just that delicious!
I receive the Lush Times and the Spring Newsletter has so many delightful new products. I used to spend many endless hours on their website, however we now have Lush Boutiques in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica & Pasadena. I'm very excited!
Not Afraid~ You can purchase products from the Molton Brown line at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bath & Body Works (Golly, I love that shop!) :)

Lush opened here last spring. It's fairly popular. You're right--Portland's the right fit for Lush.
Unfortunately, there's a Blush Beauty Bar (cosmetics boutique) a block away, so people go to Lush, looking for Blush. I was talking to a guy at Lush the other day and he says it happens all the time. To complicate things further, there's a popular lounge called Lush.
I love all three. Lush, Lush AND Blush. :snap:

My caddy is actually kinda bare right now. I'm trying to down-size in the area!
It used to be a BIG indulgence for me...3 or 4 different shampoo/conditioners, several different bath gels, face scrubs, etc...
It was a bit cluttered!
So...right now it's only TWO kinds of shampoo/conditioner - Herbal Essence and Pantene.
St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub...can NOT live without this! Use it everyday!
Caress Shower gel..in Evening Silkening scent! I love this scent! It's so sexy smelly! I'm kinda like Not Afraid right now and am leaning towards clean scents..not sweet. Even the Herbal Essence is killing me..but I'm going to use it all if it kills me!
Razors, pumice stone, body poof, etc!

I have two bathrooms I use, so I have two caddies. I'm at neither place, so it'll require a little thinking for me to remember what's in them.
In HB: KMS Silker Shampoo & Conditioner, some old Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea scrub, olive oil soap (from somewhere in Greece), Oil of Olay face wash stuff, some other kind of soap, and probably some other stuff I can't think of. A shaver, for sure... Oh, and my Proactiv scrub...
In LA: John Frieda Brunette Shampoo & Conditioner (Amber? to Espresso)... I love that stuff, and it smells... I don't know... slightly seductive to me.. I don't know what the scent is in there, but it's just... mmmm.... I also have the apple cider Philosophy 3-in-1, Pantene Pro-V Shampoo & Conditioner in some sort of extra-moisturizing formula. Also half a bar of soap from Basin. And the shaver. And more Proactiv scrub.
The roommate has other stuff, but I don't know what it is...

I too was a hoarder until I realized that I had soooo much soap, lotion and shampoo. I now force myself to use them up, telling myself I can buy more if I want it. And I do. But I try and swap around with different scents.

He said he's no longer allowed to go there unsupervised, so off I go to, um, supervise. And probably smell the 3-in-1s again.
And I wore heels this week.
If this keeps up, I'm going to turn into a GIRL!
