A Day In Pompeii - San Diego Style

Again, as mentioned in the 2008 possible swankings thread, we have a very cool opportunity in the A Day In Pompeii (http://www.sdnhm.org/pompeii/index.html) exhibit coming to San Diego.

Anyone interested in making a day or two of this? I'd be willing to fly on down, rent a car and drive to San Diego (with stops along the way as needed or desired). February is out for me, but I am open in March, April or May for this kind of a visit.

After all, with only 4 stops in the US, and an IRL visit to Pompeii not in the cards this year, this will satisfy (or further whet) a desire I've long held.

Wow! I want to go. Consider the history of the exhibit! If any one of those items could talk it probably would never stop screaming.

Side note: A 2000 year old coin came into our store last week. The guy made us promise that we would not touch it without gloves, but once he left I slipped it right out its case and into me hand. I couldn't help myself -- to be able to hold, in my own sweaty little palm, something that old! I couldn't help but wonder how many degrees I was back to its original holder. Perhaps it was one of the coins spilt by Christ himself when he drove out the money changers from the Temple! Or, maybe not. But either way it was impressive.

Well, I've been cogitating with a couple of friends in LA and we're going to trek on down March 21-22-23 (I think 3 days) I will fly down on the 20th and we're going to drive down on the Friday. Not sure which day we're getting tickets for the exhibit, yet.

I'm excited though, the 4 of us will be staying at the swanky Hotel Del Coranado!

I'll post more so maybe we can do the exhibit with the San Diego swankers!
