Is this 'swanky' enough lol? Anyway, in downtown LA they have an outdoor ice rink, sounds like alot of fun. I am going this weekend, I can let you know how it is. BTW it will only be open until the 21st, so if this sort of thing is your cup of tea, you may want to check it out ASAP.

We almost went last night, because the Chapin Sisters were playing there... but we lamed out and stayed in.

Sounds like a cool thing, for sure...

Dang - I wish we knew this earlier in the season
- and the season wasn't already so busy

My friend and I were terribly amused at this Monday. Middle of Los Angeles, and there's an ice skating rink. It seemed a little out of place. :)

Well, Gwyren, Peachy and myself went this afternoon to check this out. I haven't ice skated since I was maybe 10 years old. And even then I was on the ice maybe 10 minutes. Sooo, I was hesitant, but I got out there and fell on my butt once, but it was a good one. OUCH!! Ow! Ow!

It was nice with all the buildings around you and I think around Xmas time the atmosphere would be great for a swanking. Bad part- There were a LOT of kids - ages 1 to 10. Lots & Lots and they were constantly underfoot and running about. Seems like the next "set" had less and it was possible we hit the set that all the kids went to.

This would really be great as a swanking next holiday season!

Yep, this was a good one, I will definitely be going back next year. It ran this year Thanksgiving to MLK day. As Bornieo said, the atmosphere was great, with lights in the surrounding trees and being outdoors in the middle of the city on ice, it was pretty magical. The rink itself is pretty small, and was rather crowded, but overall, great times. The funny sight was that most of the people there were VERY new skaters, so there was often a LINE of people on the outer rail, which also left the center relatively free. There were also food booths around and they had weekend concerts. Still not too late if anyone wants to check it out, but any swankings will have to be next year. I'm up for it!
