Sweet cream churned from Bovine succulence
For so long you were absent from my bread
Abandoned on the shelf you were lost to me
Thank heaven for the garlic bread that returned you to my life
I've no need for a knife
I will rub you like a glue stick onto English muffins and fresh tortillas
Under jelly you will abide
Your doppleganger margarine shall nary pass my lips
It's butter I love
Your richness melts my soul

I'm so sorry. I can't read this after watching "Last Tango in Paris". :Hangs head in shame:

No. No reference is a good thing here. I couldn't even begin to explain on our boards. Just that, my mind is a piece of gravel in the gutter.

In the movie, butter is used as a lube
Great poem, Traci. I like butter, too. It lies amongst the truly great things in life. A rare jewel is butter. Butter is like no 'uther.
Listen up! Butter, also happens to be the highest source of fat soluble vitamins A & D. Fatty acids in Butter act both to produce energy and retain muscle mass and burn fat! In short, Butter is our Friend. Butter loves you. Butter is as close as your neighborhood grocer's freezer. My neighborhood grocer went missing for two weeks and they found his body later in another grocer's freezer. But I digress.
Butter + bagel = Happy me.
You know where I stand. That's me. How you feel about butter, I do not know. And I do not wish to presume. I have said my peace. Again, good stuff, Traci.

I was thinking your bagel post and Traci's butter one ought to meet. Just seems sort of...natural.

Butter
What are better
Than butter and cheddar
With a tortilla, bread or
'Tater?
Nothing's greater.

This is the best news I could have gotten about butter! I knew that some fats are our friend, but I didn't think butter was among them. Here I was feeling guilty for my butter love. Butter is so flexible and can be used for many, many things. (Illustrated by what Euromonkey said. :p ) I saw a cooking show that says you should bake with unsalted butter and just add a little salt and your food will turn out better. Butter really is soooo much better than margarine. And, apparently, healthier for you too. mmmm...butter!
So did the other grocer kill him? Or was it a set up? My brother in law used to work for a grocer in NYC and they were mafia. Gangster grocers. :p
It occurred to me that there are numerous punctuation and grammatical mistakes. I whisked out that ode in a flash while Indi was climbing on me. So, while the prose wouldn't be any better had I more time, the punctuation might be. Notice I said might...

Aside - Mythbusters last night had a bit about how buttered toast seems to always fall on the buttered side.
The boys discovered that if you drop toast with your hand or knock it off the table, it's most likely to flip once and land upside down - hence, butter on your floor. Using a device that dropped toast vertically they discovered that it doesn't prefer to land on either side - may as well flip a coin. And then, of course, they took the device to the roof and proceeded to drop buttered toast all over the street. That "experiment" showed that if you push down hard when you butter your toast it can cause a bowl shape in the toast, causing it to float down like a leaf would, landing butter side UP....but of course it's not often you drop toast from a roof.
Now back to your regularly scheduled butter thread. :p
