Okay, we know that NA is not reading this thread...

A coworker provided a site where someone figured a scientific answer to the question, "What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

http://www.style.org/unladenswallow/

Most of it goes right over my head, but it was amusing none-the-less.

It's a simple matter of weight ratios.

BT's family bought him a Holy Grail for Christmas. So now, if anyone should ask, we can say "we've already got one, you see".

I have a penguin with an exploding device attached to it. :D

(We used to keep it atop the telly).

After we saw Spam-a-Lot in Vegas, my sister was surprised to learn that it was based on a MOVIE!

Hahahah. Oh, and zapppop thought it was way funnier than Holy Grail.

(It was great, but I beg to differ)

Watery tarts laying about in ponds handing out cutlery is no basis for a system of government.

Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.

Ohh!! How about we post our favorite quotes and include NA....

"Sir! This NA is no more. It is an Ex-NA"

"No it's not. It's just sleeping"

FYI, as mentioned in the Sooo thread, the board does not like it if you try to post using the word P-y-t-h-o-n. I'm sure other people have been having problems posting in this thread due to this glitch. (GD is on it.)

I'm sure NA is behind it and we must all hang her for a witch.

In the meanwhile, here is what I've been meaning to post for ages now:

I swear, when I first began using the internet in the fall of 1996, figuring out what a search engine was in GD's dorm room, looking at text only via 28.8k modem....

one of the first things I ever read was a webpage on the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow.

The internet has always been populated by Monty P. geeks. :snap:

The first "web page" I remember visiting (using mosaic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosaic_(web_browser))) was a site in Germany with a strudel recipe.

I wish I still had that, strudel sounds good right now.

If we are going to discuss our early geekiness, I have to mention that the first modem I used was actually a cradle that you set the phone handset into. It was for direct connection to another computer. I think the thing was about 300 baud (no kiddies: there is no "K" after that number).

Something that looked like this:

If we are going to discuss our early geekiness...Actually, we are not. I only posted that because it actually had to do with the OP.

Back in my day we invented dirt so we'd have something to play with.

Whoops. I've used that line before. Back in my day it was so long ago everything I said wasn't a repeat of something I'd already said.

Cool! It came with cup holders, too!

When I got my first computer, I had to upgrade the ram from 4MB to a whopping 8MB! And that cost over $100 to do!! Oh, the good old days.......NOT!

Kevy, I remember those! 1200 baud was a huge deal, 300 more common.

I need to watch the Monty movies again.

This was my first computer. (http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=409) It's still in my folks' basement - still functional (last time we checked.)

I think this (http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=244) was our second one, but we had the Model III/IV conversion thingy. I used to have to spend many weekend hours formatting disks for my dad. One of the disk drives was "high density" so I had to put a little round silver sticker on those.
