Wishing you all a happy and prosperous year of the rat!!
I'm really really missing all the Chinese and Vietnamese folks I used to work with right now, we always had a mondo good potluck for lunar New Year. But I'll still make myself some long uncut noodles in soup to eat tomorrow!!

I'm missing my grandma's sushi fest right about now. I wonder if she'll even do it the way she used to without me being in the house...

OMG is that tomorrow?! Oh, wow.
I was born in the year of the rat, and it's auspicious that it's rat year again. I recently made a good friend who was also a rat-year birth ... and he gave me a lovely Rat Totem to commemorate our upcoming rat re-ascension.
YAY!

The year of the rat? Oh, yeah, I remember!
There I was, face to face with the biggest, ugliest rat I have ever seen!
I looked around for a weapon but all I could find was my camera. So I started hitting the thing over the head repeatedly. It let out this awful squeal like a prepubescent boy.
Then Security detained me for four hours. I'm never to set foot on Disneyland Resort property again, and I'll be hearing from their lawyers soon.
Oh? Not THAT year of the rat?
Sorry, never mind!

Since I'm a Rat, I found this interesting tidbit, for €uroMeinke, from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_(zodiac)):
Rats in general should guard themselves against hedonism, as it may lead to self-destruction.
Heheheh.

I am an Earth Horse. OOooh.. fancy.
Interestingly, I have a lot of monkeys and horses in my family, with a few dogs and roosters in between... we're quite the menagerie.
Oddly, I realize I tend to go for those in the year of the Rabbit, and apparently, it's not really the best match - though I'd beg to differ.

To be specific, I am a Metal Rat.
Those born right around now, at the very beginning of the beginning of the 12-year cycle, they are water rats.
Welcome to our Supreme Ratness. It's a year for renewal and patient progress. Enjoy!

Dragon
I can't remember what I am (it is one of two things). I think my brain is only willing to hold one piece of horoscope tomfoolery about myself and it is stuck with remembering I'm a Virgo and that's why every time I relearn whether I'm a tiger or a dragon I quickly forget again.

Wooden Tiger.
From wikipedia: They are tempestuous yet calm, warm-hearted yet fearsome, courageous in the face of danger yet yielding, soft and mysterious in unexpected places.
...like my armpit? my left middle toe? Suddenly I have this image of myself as an apple with a mushy spot.

And according to Wiki, I'm completely incompatible with my Snake of a wife.Susan is Capricorn and I am Sagittarius. We are supposed to be incompatible.
I am not sure of her Chinese Astrological sign as her birthday is January 9, 1967. I am pretty sure that would make her a Horse, but I can't find the verification. (1967 is actually the year of the Sheep, but her birthday comes before the Chinese New Year, so that is why Horse.)
I looked: Susan is a Fire Horse and I am a Wood Dragon.

And for the most part, the wiki seems to have me pretty 'down-pat' ish. Kind of. In that horoscopes always sound right kind of way. Except, I am actually an excellent secret-keeper. At least the really good secrets are kept. Lame ones are let loose, lest they infect the others with their lameness.

CP - Wow, from an outsider's perspective, I'd say a lot of it sounds pretty accurate. Passionate, intelligent, strong, persistent... someone that requires the kind of mental exercise I see you engaging in all of the time. I don't generally buy into that kind of thing - but... yours seems to be the way I've viewed you from moment 1.
Of course, how we present ourselves outwardly doesn't always reflect the insecurity and shyness that we might feel on a regular basis. I know that regularly, I'm seen as someone who is very outgoing and conversational, when, for the most part, I'm rather shy until I know I like someone (which is a rather stringent sort of issue with me. I'm nice, I don't like everyone...)

I'm a fire monkey. I am also a Virgo. And it's rather scary when you compare monkeys with Virgos, there are an awful lot of things that the two have in common when you read descriptions!
I'll be going down to the International District this weekend, weather permitting to see the dragon dancers!
