I thought this was going to be an announcement that Lashy was coming back to visit us again.

I couldn't find the article on it, and I must get onto doing some work today, so I'll just have to ask that you trust me.

The polar bear pictured is Knut, the famous polar bear from Germany, who was taken care of by humans after being rejected by his mother. Knut is an adult now, and all of the abnormal attention, added to the fact that he's too dangerous to be around his original handler, and thus, loss, has equaled a problem. The polar bear has been depressed, angry, etc... it's very sad.

One of the things polar bears do is eat their offspring if there is any sign of illness, which is hard for most humans to witness, though future zoos are considering going the "natural" path, in order to prevent what is happening with Knut now.

I feel bad. :(

Based on blueerica's post, apparently not.

Poor little guy. I would have thought being around his handler would be the safest route- it's somebody he knows.

Poor little guy. I would have thought being around his handler would be the safest route- it's somebody he knows. But he is still by nature a wild animal. Nurture does not eliminate nature.
