View Full Version : Double Murder/Suicide in my neighborhood

This afternoon has been a horror and a sadness.

I left my neighborhood this afternoon and saw emergency vehicles pulling in- did not think too much of it. Got a call not too long after-there was a shooting in our neighborhood.

Three people are dead. Two murdered, one suicide.

Rumors flew- one said it was a man who killed his girlfriend and a daughter. By the time we got home we learned it was three adults.

Whole cul de sac is blocked off. Neighbors wandering around in shock. News crews, police- lights and chaos. Orderly chaos.

I cry- it's my nature. When I think of those people I put alot of empathy into feeling- as close as I can imagine- what they felt. I'm horrified and just so thankful that my family is ok.

I did learn that you should not cry near a crime scene with news crews around. Was interviewed by two TV stations and one local paper. When I came home I passed a news van editing footage with me and my kids on it.

What I have learned is that it was an adult woman who lived there- she had a boyfriend and his car was there. We do not know who the third person- a male- is, or how he was related to the other two. She had two adult children in their late 20's.

Our neighborhood is shell shocked and horrified and grieving tonight. As it turns out my daughter went to that home last week and spoke to a man there about donations for a charity at her school. I do not know if he was one of the murder victims or the shooter.

Too close to home either way. :(

I'm so sorry to hear this, C - a similar thing happened when I was at college; our next-door neighbors were involved in a similar event and it really tore me apart, even though I'd only known them through casual conversations and the occasional borrowed cup of sugar. A lot of people in my life didn't understand why I was so upset, but I similarly go through a lot of emotion via empathy - and my roommate at the time did too.

It's very sad when this kind of thing happens - and I'm sorry to hear it's happening near you. Hang in there. <hug>

At home now- being very thankful to be with my family- safe.

My heart just breaks for these peoples families- their world was torn apart today on a sunny CO afternoon.

I was sitting less than 100 yards away playing a stupid video game when three people's lives ended. I just feel sick-

It's horrifying when this sort of thing happens, but even more so when it's so close to your safe home. I'm glad you all are ok.

It affects you more than you know.

I had an asian student die in my block of flats (not sure of reason) - It appeared that he drank himself to death - He was found with bottles all around the desk, and him slumped dead under the desk.

We took some time to get over that one. I empathise with you, but console you with the knowledge that life does eventually get back to normal.

Here is the video of the report with the reporter I spoke with.

I need to go to bed- :(- my heart is broken into a million pieces tonight- part of my heart is with Teresa and her mom and the other here with this horrible event.

*sigh* Have to appreciate what I have- my family and friends. Thanks all-

Sorry to hear about this tragic situation, Neph, but glad that you all home together and safe. That's the most important thing. Take care.

Not a happy day. No one seems to have been injured, but there were three apparent antisemitic hate crimes in my old neighborhood today, one at a facility my parents used to go to for gym access.

4 people at work have come up to me "saw you on the news" I'm sure there are more.

I have officially used up all my 15 minutes of fame- *sigh*

No new news on what happened- CSI team was still there when I left this morning.
