Drudge (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-prince-harry-redeploy,1,568486.story) outted Price Harry's tour over in Afghanastan. Why they couldn't wait a few more weeks until he came home is beyond me.

The media in this country sickens me sometimes. Yes, freedom of the press, but what happened to having some tact and respect? Britain was able to keep it quiet. Now we just look like bigger pompous jerks then we already come across as. :(

I thought this thread was about the time Prince Harry ___________ MickeyLumbo's __________ with the help of a ____________ and then ________-________ him until the cows came home.

But I guess it's all still a secret. Take that Drudge!

If you believe the years and years rumors, then yes.

Basically I don't give a fig about the Royals.

However . . . .

If Diana had lived, her sons would have had more opportunities than simply joining the military as their father did to prove they were not simply drunken horndogs and leeches.

Hrmm, I thought I'd heard on the news that he was outted in Britain, and that the story got carried over here. Regardless of whether you look at it as he had limited opportunities or not, he really wanted to go, whether to prove himself or to just live like others for a while - to have to pull him out now just sucks and blows.

The business of actively serving in fire zones whilst Royal has always been a sticky one- Harry's great Grandfather George VI fought a similar battle to serve in active duty during WWI, and was frustrated by attempts to keep him out of the line of fire. They worry about the 'spare', and in his case they were right, as his brother later abdicated and he became a reluctant ruler. It's got to be tough to be in Harry's position in the Windsor household; I think SL was right with his Diana observation.

GC, I agree!

I do think it must be awful to try and prove oneself being a royal. He can't be endangered, which is the usual route of proving manhood, but he can't just sit back and party either. Not if he wants some self-respect. I admire him for taking his turn in the military (though the risk is minimized, knowing he'll always be in a safe spot, kind of like our politicians' kids), but as far as the article gave me to believe, he went in to be treated reasonably like the other soldiers. Since he was called back, he doesn't lose points for not finishing the tour of duty. It's not like he gave up and came home.
