Last time TLM played in theaters, we imagined the gum, popcorn and other assorted sticky junk that accumulated in the room after the matinees... resulting in our impromptu version of "Under the Seat".

Last time TLM played in theaters, we imagined the gum, popcorn and other assorted sticky junk that accumulated in the room after the matinees... resulting in our impromptu version of "Under the Seat".My sister and her best friend in college had a "I Have to Pee" version born in an apparently boring college lecture. "Darling it's better down where it's wetter." I don't think they changed that line.

Oh, and I'm so there.

Thinking about dates, April 13 is MouseAdventure, and Coachella is the last weekend in April. So I vote for not any of those dates.

Tenish years ago TLM played at a theater here. I sang along even though that wasn't the format (I believe my friends and I were close to the only ones there). I wasn't very popular for it and had to stop fairly early on. I would love to go to this!

Yay, it's so nice to see you back, SM.

Ok, who's up for an eveningish show on Saturday, May 3?

If that date's a problem, say so ... and we'll look for another. If that date's a goody, please chime in with that info, too.

My birthday* too, and I'm not sure I'll be around. But if everyone else (including CP) wants to go, go for it.

*the day I'll celebrate it*

innerSpaceman
03-20-2008, 03:50 PM
Ask her! We could do birthday cake, and we have a pre-made party!

If not, no problem. See if that Sunday, the 4th, works for her.

innerSpaceman
04-15-2008, 05:07 PM
Bumpity. Cadaverous Pallor, calling Cadaverous Pallor ... Do you want to do Modern Style exhibit and Santa Monica plus Sing-a-long Little Mermaid as your birthday extravaganza ... or quick, should we do Little Mermaid on another date?

LSPoorEeyorick
04-16-2008, 11:06 AM
So what's the word on this? If we choose to switch it, I have a thang on the 3rd so I can't come - but maybe the 11th would work if CP has other birthday plans?

Ghoulish Delight
04-16-2008, 11:08 AM
I don't think we're going to make it. Just too much going on.

innerSpaceman
04-16-2008, 01:28 PM
Not on the 4th OR the 11th??

Cause if you can't make it at all GD and CP (to which I cry "Waaaaa!"), I'm inclined to leave it on the 4th as penciled in via this thread.

innerSpaceman
05-08-2008, 10:10 AM
I want to do this so much. I'm free tonight, Friday, and Sunday evenings. Saturday's casa de mousepod. And, yeah, Sunday's Mother's Day ... but I'm free in the evening after a luncheon with my family.

I wanna SING!!!

05-08-2008, 10:15 AM
For of us went to the 7:45 show on Monday night - there were less than 20 people in the entire theater. We sang anyway - getting a couple of odd looks from some tourists, but it was still tons of fun. I recommend this heartily, if only to see the movie on the big screen.

SzczerbiakManiac

I would dearly love to join you, but I'm recovering from a leg injury and sitting in a cramped theater seat for a couple hours just isn't something I can do right now. :(

innerSpaceman
05-08-2008, 12:42 PM
I'm so sorry to hear about your injury, SM. Best wishes for a quick and speedy recovery.

If we end up going, howzabout you put in your DVD at the same time, and sing along in sorta unison??

Smashing idea! Maybe you guys can call me on your cell and I can sing with you. ;)

You know, they have a spacious handicap seating area in the back of the house, I'm sure they'd let you stretch out there.

Call me, if this thing happens. It'd be fun to go with people, but not something I'd go do by myself.

LSPoorEeyorick
05-09-2008, 06:25 AM
It seems iSm and I are somewhat flexible - and that we really want to do this. When are you available, o commodore my commodore? (Also SM... we can sit in the back with you...)

Um, are we talking tonight Friday night? Oi, it's getting a little close for that.

Ugh, and I hate an afternoon showing of a film that will attract screaming kidlets.

Howzabout Sunday early evening??? We can even discuss it at the casa de mousepod screening (if that's still on).

LSPoorEeyorick
05-09-2008, 03:34 PM
Sunday early evening is AOK with me! (mousepod's screening, totally still on, as far as I know.)

innerSpaceman
05-09-2008, 04:24 PM
I hope so. Small crowd it looks like, but maybe it will be scarier that way. Still, it would be nice if some folks hadn't seen it (though perhaps Jesse and Heather have not!!)

And Sunday eve-ish works fine for me for Sing-along. And yes, Brad dahrling, I'm sooo gay!

LSPoorEeyorick
05-09-2008, 04:36 PM
He definitely hasn't seen it. I don't think Matt has, either. Or Erik. (You and I and Tom and Audra have - so it's about half and half?)

05-09-2008, 06:13 PM
sorry to answer in this thread, but the question was asked here...It's still on. I haven't seen it. Heather hasn't either but she's out of town visiting her Mom. My blu-ray player (ps3) was broken, but it came back repaired today. I plan to have some other scary things to watch, so everyone can have nightmares...

How is 7:45 PM? Since KrispyJim is available at night, I'm not sure if he'll be available for the 5:30. (I will call him today when we've decided.)

General admission OK for all?

innerSpaceman

Gen Ad words for me. I hate the El Cap caste system. Power to the Merpeople!

But I'm down with whatever works for the cheeseman.

Go for gen admission. When I saw it last monday, we paid the extra $$ for VIP we were the only people who bought advance VIP tix. The verdict: VIP is great for opening weekend. Other times not so much.

HAVE FUN! SING!

LSPoorEeyorick
05-11-2008, 04:47 PM
OK, gang - we'll see you for the 7:45! I presume we won't have to get there uber-early but we'll try to be there by 7:20 or :30. Warm up those pipes!

innerSpaceman
05-11-2008, 06:03 PM
Ugh, Mother's Day took longer than expected, but I should be there around 7:20ish.

:D < me

LSPoorEeyorick
05-12-2008, 07:08 AM
Oh, my. That was SO MUCH FUN.

I came prepared to sing and be serenaded, but I was entirely unprepared for the magic of iSm's falsetto, or the outbursts that came from Monsieur ThinKrisp (which, on first occurrence, made me laugh hysterically, and by last occurrence had a good portion of the audience chiming in.)

I could not have asked for a more fun small bunch of people with whom to belt out the songs. (Though a larger group would've been swell, so next time there's a sing-along you simply must join us.)

Something else surprised me in the midst of the screening. In my small pond, particularly in high school, I had the chance to shine performing in musical theater. Moving to a very competitive college program for dramatic arts, I excelled in directing, but as far as singing I paled in comparison to performers who today are making their living on Broadway. (I had one frustrating audition for a musical, and then dropped it entirely and stuck to my straight-theater guns.) And I stopped singing.

But you know what? I like singing. It brings me joy. I never wanted it to bring me money, so it's too bad that when I compared myself with professionals and found myself lacking, I completely left it behind. I don't have to be terrific at it, I can just have fun. So, more singing. And having sat with the gents last night, I feel it's imperative we make at least one of those reading nights feature a musical. (We really need to cast iSm as Joanna in Sweeney Todd, for instance.)

innerSpaceman
05-12-2008, 07:58 AM
Hahahah^. I'm glad I can do falsetto when it's called for, but I had much more fun singing more naturally as Sebastian ... and especially as Ursula. But who knew there were so many choruses of "Ah-ah-ah, Ah-ah-ah?"

What a hoot that was. Yes, singing aloud outside of the shower and the car is a blast. Fun, fun, company. Half of Parmesan Jim's RockyHorrorisms went over well, with one especially bringing down the house. And yes, kazoos next time this happens, if it ever does.

And if it ever does, I heartily recommend it for all. So.Much.Fun.

Whew, with all the attempts both on and off this thread, I'm so pleased we made the final performance. Hooray!!!

Sing like a choir!

Best subtitle. Evar.

I was surprised by all the lyrics I did not know!

LSPoorEeyorick
05-12-2008, 09:42 AM
Seriously! For years I never knew it was "when the sardine begin the beguine" - and, while I originally thought Ashman was a great lyricist, I now think he's the catfish's pajamas.

innerSpaceman
05-12-2008, 09:50 AM
There was one lyric in Kiss the Girl that I didn't know I didn't know, and it seemed clever, but I forgot what it was. So I listened to the soundtrack and it turns out I didn't know it because it's not there.

There were several errors in the subtitled lyrics, but too bad about this one because it was a clever lyric that nonetheless is Wrong.

And falsetto or not .... I was laughing so hard at "Sing Like a Choir" that I couldn't sing like a choir!!

Gemini Cricket
05-12-2008, 10:32 AM
So explain the whole "Sing Like a Choir" thing.

innerSpaceman
05-12-2008, 10:46 AM
Oh.

In addition to the on-screen lyrics, there would occassionally be stage directions like "Stomp your Feet" or "Conduct like Sebastian" ... but our fave was a singing direction for the grand finale which read "Sing like a choir." And my famous falsetto failed me just when it was going to be employed by the entire audience because I was laughing so hard.

Gn2Dlnd
05-12-2008, 12:38 PM
It was as if I was sitting next to Jodi Benson herself.

^ Heehee, I LOVE The Little Mermaid, and have listened to it lots.

When we were sorta sharing "first time" stories last night, I didn't mention that I saw it opening night at the Cinerama Dome (before the El Capitan existed). I wasn't expecting anything special, and was so naturally swept up in the movie that it wasn't till it was over and we were applauding, that we all looked at each other in amazement and said, "Wow, that was REALLY GOOD."

Disney animation hadn't done anything remotely that splended since Walt Disney was alive. It was magnificent, and the Renaissance continued ... but with the subsequent films all playing the El Capitan. Beautiful as that theater is, the screen is tiny compared to the Cinerama Dome ... so The Little Mermaid was seen in uniquely splendiferous visual magnificence when it was premiered.

Le Sigh.
