My co-worker is planning a trip to the LA area next weekend -- Thursday- Tuesday, or something like that. Besides living out her sweater girl fantasies with a drive up the coast in a convertible (chiffon scarf included), what else should she check out?

(Yes, one day is reserved for a Disneyland visit. What's the current status of disability passes? She's not supposed to walk more than 40 yards at a time and will be renting an ECV.)

Hollywood and Highland/El Capitan/Grauman's Chinese
Griffith Observatory
La Brea Tar Pits (but it's best to see those with someone who works there and can take you behind the scenes. If you were coming with your friend, we'd take you guys.)
Venice Beach/boardwalk - it's wheelchair accessible
a studio tour - Warner's is pretty affordable, and cool
Universal Studios is fun too
Shopping at a farmer's market for fresh CA produce is always a surprise favorite of our guests (I recommend Hollywood & Ivar on Sunday mornings - star sightings too)
I LOVE the Hollywood Museum in the Max Factor building off Hollywood/Highland - nearby there's also the wax museum and a couple other tourist traps that are amusing.
A drive to check out cool houses and LA architecture (I recommend driving south down Highland or Vine, towards 3rd, down through Beverly, etc.

If she's got the convertible she needs to do some cruising - Hollywood Blvd, Sunset strip, PCH, and Malibu

Once all the stars started going there for their gifts and goodies, I think that's when the change mainly happened in that direction, (The Pleasure Chest).

Outside of that, excellent suggestions for Los Angeles. I'm sure there are more, but I feel so out of touch all of a sudden.

I love the Grove. It has a gorgeous Barnes and Noble that I enjoy perusing.

It's not. When gays are squeezed out of West Hollywood, the sky is truly falling. ;)

Oh, and The Grove is the most beautiful shopping experience in America.*

Too late. Have you been there lately? Straight people everywhere! Especially old Russian straight people.

Oh, it was always a haven for Old Eastern Bloc Jews who mixed well with teh Gays. At least it was when I lived there in, gasp, the 80's!!!

A lot of the newer Russian immigrants are very homophobic.

If they dig architecture, it's easy to take the Red Line, and visit Downtown, ending up at Union Station
