For some reason, I can not watch YouTube videos any more.
Every video I play gets stuck in some sort of loading cycle and doesn't play.
I'm not sure what to do.

The site says to do this:

All videos are stuck on the loading screen.

This could be caused by a number of things. First, you'll need a broadband connection with at least 500+Kbps for the best viewing experience.

If your connection speed meets the minimum requirement but you are still stuck on the loading screen, this could be caused by a firewall or internet blocker. These types of programs could block the media stream from YouTube. If you have a firewall, you might want to temporarily disable it to see if the videos load. If so, you would need to adjust the firewall settings to allow streaming media from YouTube to pass the firewall. If you are not sure on how to do this, please contact the manufacturer of your firewall.

This might also be caused by another streaming application such as Quicktime fighting for the stream. Please check streaming applications installed on your computer like RealPlayer, Quicktime, and Windows Media Player and ensure they are not enabled as the default player.

Finally, you may be trying to view a video that has been marked as "Private" by its owner. Unless you are logged in and a member of that member's "Friends" or "Family" list, you will not be able to see the video. Check another video to determine if all videos are failing to load, or just one.
I did. It didn't work.

Can any of you gurus out there help?

:(

No YouTube makes the YouTubery thread really dull for me.

cut and paste the video link into http://keepvid.com/ and download it, then view it with the free FLV viewer they link to.

Or download GetTubeVideo (http://www.bitcrowd.com/)and use that. It's really good ! You can save the vids as wmv or many other type files.

I think YouTube's going down in flames. They're getting worse and worse - and I don't think it's us.

Which browser? If you have another one than whatever you're using, does the same thing happen in that one?

I went about a month where Firefox would freeze all videos about 4 seconds in and I'd have to restart and it would be fine for an hour or so. I don't watch a lot of videos so it was a minor annoyance then went away the next time Firefox updated.

I would consider that a blessing, not a problem. ;)

I had constant buffering on SuperDeluxe the other day. These video sites are hitting their limits for sure. Depends on the day and time.

I've tried 3 different browsers. Nothing. The same thing happens with all.

My work has recently blocked YouTube.

Dangit.

I use Firefox at home and it seems to be working OK.

Good luck!

I made YouTube an exception on my firewall as a trusted site etc.
Nada.

I'm not sure what to do.
I had the same problem and FINALLY (after hours of googling) found a solution that worked:

Go to the following directory:
c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\

There should be a file named FlashUtil9f.exe (or something very similar). Run it and it *should* fix the problem.

There's a couple of other things you can try if that doesn't work. You can find them here (http://cacan.blog385.com/index.php/2008/03/29/firefox-youtube-video-freeze-problem/).

Hope this fixes it for you!

Thanks for the tip!
Unfortunately, I gave it a shot and there are still videos I can't see. Some of the shorter ones play, the long ones don't. Weird.
