Pop Artist Robert Rauschenberg dies at age 82. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080513/ap_en_ot/obit_rauschenberg_5)

TAMPA, Fla. - Robert Rauschenberg, whose use of odd and everyday articles earned him a reputation as a pioneer in pop art but whose talents spanned the worlds of painting, sculpture and dance, has died, his gallery representative said Tuesday. He was 82.

Not to be limited by paint, Rauschenberg was a sculptor and choreographer and even won a 1984 Grammy Award for best album package for the Talking Heads album "Speaking in Tongues."

I believe we have 2 copies of his album with the Rauschenberg packaging

Not to be disrespectful at this fine artist's death, or anything.... But there was a link to this video (javascript:void(window.open('http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/ynews;_ylt=Ajzz14aNoXafB8itn_6FRzpY24cA?ch=4226715&cl=7796188&lang=en','playerWindow','width=793,height=608,scro llbars=no'));) on the above site. All I can say is "YUM!"

I'm just amazed that the news service could provide not a single image of any of his works, just a picture of Rauschenburg with Liza. Yeesh. Anyway, yes, another one of the good ones gone.

Aw, damn. Even more glad that I saw his retrospective at Moca now. It was amazing, amazing, amazing!

Love the closing quote:

"I don't have a sense of great reality about the next world; my feet are too ugly to wear those golden slippers. But I'm working on my fear of it. And my fear is that something interesting will happen, and I'll miss it."
