I caught this (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90330162)on NPR this Morning - It's the 40th anniversary of the Paris 1968 Strike - some great quotes from the story:

Campaigning for president last year, Nicholas Sarkozy blamed the legacy of 1968 for leading to intellectual and moral relativism and hedonistic individualism.or

"We experienced utopia, a moment where everyone could live a full and intense life," Weber says. "The watchword was live without pause, enjoy pleasure without restraint."Now that's a sig line

Viva La France!

Didn't Sarkozy dump his wife and marry a model? Seems hedonism is working well for him.

Viva la R'evolution!

I knew there were forces beyond his control at work when Sarkozy dumped his wife and married a supermodel.

...Women couldn't wear pants to work and married ones needed a husband's permission to open a bank account.

Homosexuality was a crime. Factory workers could be fired at will. The news on the single TV channel required government approval. And the overcrowded educational system was authoritarian...

Sounds like a Republican wet dream...
