He was doomed ever since he got involved with DCA. Kiss.Of.Death.

I grew up inly a few miles from the Robert Modavi winery in Napa. How sad.

How sad.

Hell, he was 94 - sounds like a good long life to me!

He brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, and that's a wonderful thing.

His lawyers weep - perhaps we'll have to pay homage to his former presence in DCA.

That's not a bad idea. I couldn't resist being flippant before, but he lived to a "ripe" old age, and left a wonderful legacy that can be enjoyed for generations ... and can be enjoyed by us one weekend very soon perhaps.

In fact, I'll always think of how Mondavi's wine transformed my very first visit to DCA from tragic shock to funtimes happiness.

I'm toasting to him with a glass of Don Julio Tiquila, after having learned about it at a tasting in DCA.

The Mondovi family were pioneers, no doubt about it.

I noticed at costco last week that there was a book on this topic
The House of Mondavi: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty (http://www.amazon.com/House-Mondavi-Rise-American-Dynasty/dp/1592403670/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211212185&sr=1-1)

I may have to reserve that at the library.
