I just checked the calendar at Disneyland.com and it appears that the "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks will return each night for two weeks from Friday, March 18 to Saturday, April 2, 2005.

Then, the calendar on May 5 lists the debut of the new "Remember...Dreams Come True" fireworks.

So, I wonder if these upcoming two weeks will be the "last time" we see the "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks? Or, do you not care ... and can't wait for the 50th's "Remember" fireworks?

I was not fond of Imagine so I'm not really interested in watching it when it returns for it's brief 'farewell season'. Now, if they were bringing back Believe then I'd care. I'm about as excited about this as Steve was about the opening of Buzz. Yawn.

Bring on Remember.

it is being billed as "FITS". similar to the New Years Eve show. Fantasy In The Sky from the '70's. :)

I don't care. It's pretty things blowing up in the sky. That's all it takes to make me happy!

I agree. Sparkly sky explosions is pretty!

(Now, if this were really a limited time return of the Actual "Fantasy in the Sky" as opposed to the "Imagine" bastardization, I would be there for every performance.)

the word is: "Disney's Fantasy In The Sky Fireworks Spectacular" will be presented nightly from March 18 through April 2 at 9:25 p.m. This all-new fireworks show transforms the sky above Sleeping Beauty Castle into a stunning evening spectacle!"

so, it is not the original, but, still pretty explosions.

A short story for those of you who were not around to enjoy the fireworks last night:
I got to the park on Saturday evening to pick up my AP and check out a few of my favorite attractions. At about 9:15, I made my way toward the hub and I started chatting with a CM about the "Fantasy In The Sky" fireworks that were about to start. I asked her if she had seen them yet and if they compared to the original FITS. She told me that she hadn't been there when they debuted the night before, but one of here friends saw them and they were "pretty crappy".
Yesterday, I shared the story with Mickeylumbo and later with the rest of the Tiki meeters, and everyone was disappointed that a CM would say something like that about any Disney attraction.
Last night at around 9:00, a bunch of us were gathered in the hub, and CP and I decided to make a quick run to the Emporium to check out the retro wear. I picked out a couple of things and brought them up to pay, and the CM tried to get me to buy more stuff ("Is that all you're buying? I'm getting the shot glasses, and a shirt, and..."). CP politely intervened and told her we didn't have time to chat, because we had to get outside to watch the fireworks. At that point the CM told us "They're not very exciting. They even tell you when the finale is coming." If CP wasn't there, I don't think anyone would believe me.
In all fairness, they weren't the greatest Disney fireworks show (let's face it, Disney vets have been spoiled), but 2 CMs in 2 nights? It's like there's a conspiracy to empty the park 2 1/2 hours early. Odd.

I love fireworks. As a matter of fact, Fireworks and Swans are 2 of my favorite things about DL.

This show was so underwhelming that I was literally open-mouthed with shock. Wow! What a non-show. I'm usually happy with anything blowing up in the sky. There isn't even a Mickey and they play the Mickey Mouse March! Dumb.

Yep, clearly very little thought put into this one. The whole time I just felt...rushed. The concepts of pacing, timing, and rhythm were not part of this show at all. Of course, they were fireworks, so I'm sure anyone who's not a regular enjoyed them just fine, but I wouldn't recommend making any special effort to see them if you've seen other Disney fireworks shows. Imagine was better.

I don't know why anyone expected anything more than "Fantasy in the Sky", which always has been "shoot one firework after another while playing music". This was a traditional fireworks show like we've all grown up with. We heard plenty of oohs and ahhs from the Spring Breakers around us.

I know, this is Disney, we expect better. But this is a fine stopgap for Spring Break, until they spend tons of cash on the new show. Much, MUCH better than no fireworks at all.

In short, I saw explosions in the sky with music playing, and it was ok. My expectations for the 50th fireworks are a whole different story.

It was about what I expected it to be, but my conspiracy theory mind wonders if this isn't a way for Disney to lower expectations for the 50th fireworks, which will certainly be spectacular compared to the last two shows.

Steve, Laurie and I could see it from the Cantina as we had our cocktails.
It looked okay from a distance with some alcohol and no soundtrack.

i was not disappointed with the fireworks...it was exactly what FITS always was, and as CP said, better than nothing for two weeks of Spring Break guests...i am absolutely appalled however that a CM would describe the show to a guest as "crappy". if i had heard that i would most certainly have made a point at telling the CM what a mistake it was to say that to a guest. then i would have slugged her in the mouth.

i feel better now. carry on.

Is that the "Disney Way"?
