SECURITY scanners that can see through passengers' clothing and reveal details such as their sex organs, colostomy bags and breast size, are being installed in 10 US airports.

The installation is picking up this month, with machines in ... Washington, Dallas, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Miami and Detroit.

"People have no idea how graphic the images are," Barry Steinhardt, director of the technology and liberty program at the American Civil Liberties Union, said.

The ACLU said passengers expecting privacy underneath their clothing "should not be required to display highly personal details of their bodies such as evidence of mastectomies, colostomy appliances, penile implants, catheter tubes and the size of their breasts or genitals as a pre-requisite to boarding a plane".

Besides masking their faces, the TSA says on its website, the images made "will not be printed stored or transmitted".

Did our American comic books predict (http://arflovers.com/Blog/images/01_14_08_dollman2.jpg) this? Did you say, No?

LMAO you rock.

But are those first images actually what they see? They literally see you naked? Ummmm I would SO not want that job. Have you seen some of the people at the airport? Eeew.

So far as I can tell that is what they will see.

I would not like that job either, though I would love to spend a day watching people walk through it.

That is rather disturbing. They're naked, but glowy and odd...I think I'd have nightmares.

is this more radiation hitting us, or something else?

I heard about this many months ago with the original pilot program, but nothing else...

Wow, that really is like being seen naked. I really don't want screeners snickering behind their screen about my bodily features.

Is this a joke?

No, it's real.

Doesn't really bother me, though. They're off in a different location (last I heard) so they can't see the real you and the security people at the gate can't see the scanned you.

The maintenance guy at the gym gets to see me naked every time I'm there. Can't work up much too much excitement over a civil servant having more evidence than most of my man boobs and droopy butt.
