Knowing his love of unique watches, I happened to stumble across Tokyoflash Japan. This is the one (http://www.tokyoflash.com/en/watches/tokyoflash/infection/) that first captured my attention (thanks to Gizmodo):

How the crap do you tell the time on that thing?Twelve red LEDs indicate hours, eleven yellow LEDs represent the progression of time in groups of five minutes and four green LEDs show single minutes. That watch says it is 3:59

Way too much work to tell time, but it sure looks cool!

3 red lights = 3 hours
11 yellow lights x 5 minutes each = 55 minutes
4 green lights = 4 minutes
55 + 4 = 59 minutes

Time is 3:59

That is cool but too much thinking.

Your avatar still cracks me up.

LED watches are much easier for me to read in dark rooms with my poor eyesight. Love it, But I still want to get one of the all blue LED watches.

Just the other day, I picked up one of these beauties...

Although secretly I will admit that I purchased it primarily for wearing to formal parties (ie: inaugural balls) and annoying my oh so non-Disney wife.

How many of us remember when phones actually had dials?

My parents still had one in their kitchen until a couple years ago.

My mom still had hers until the phone company made her change it. She's still pissed.

There is still one in my grandparents house. Black cast iron if I recall correctly.

I worked at the Fullerton College Radio Station (eventually became Manager). We had a phone in the studio that was for incoming calls (it had no buttons or rotary on it). Some enterprising people figured out that if click the hook (for example) five times in rapid succession, it was the same as dialing a five on a rotary phone. They were actually able to make outgoing phones.

I never had the patience to try it. And when I became manager, had to nail people for long distance call charges.

Don't get me started on phone hacks back in the day. Good times I tell ya, good times. David Lightman had nothing on me.

I saw these in Japan and almost bought one, but the dial was ridiculously huge - I suppose that was the point though.

In other news, everytime I open this thread I think someone's going to buy me a new watch.

If you didn't have such an eclectic and expensive taste in them, I'd get you one.

Just can't compete with those selections.
