It's about to begin. (July 16th) I'm not sure if I will have time to get sucked into this for one more season.
Bravo's highly-anticipated fifth season of the three-time Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning creative competition reality series Project Runway returns Wednesday, July 16 in a new time slot -- 9/8c. Returning to the runway, host and supermodel Heidi Klum heads a panel of industry luminaries, including judges, top women's and menswear designer Michael Kors, and fashion expert Nina Garcia, as they decide who is "in" and who is "out." Tim Gunn, Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne, Inc., will once again act as a mentor to the designers as they take on weekly fashion challenges. The 16 Project Runway contestants will be whittled down week-by-week to the finalists who will show their own line in front of an audience of fashion industry movers and shakers at New York Fashion Week.
I'm lame, I could not find the contestants for new Season 5.

While I've never seen the show, I did run across this bit of dirt today... Some writer found notes and papers from Harvey Weinstein in the trash. Some of which are about Project runway...
Hw – if you get a call from carol hamilton it will be regarding [Project Runway] season 6 and beyond. I've imposed a tuesday, close of business deadline for them to commit to hair category in addition to make up. They have two choices: 1) Take both hair and make up for [$2 million] plus [$1 million] to twc (no split) for season 6 and [$2 million] for hair and makeup for season 7 plus [$1 million] to twc for a total of [$6 million]. 2) Commit to season 6 only for [$2 million] hair/make up plus [$1 million] to twc] and then by 3rd episode must pick up both season 7 + 8 for a total of [$8 million] (but must take additional [$1 million] to twc regardless) They have asked for additional time and I have declined that citing tresemme and season 5 which starts shooting shortly. Call me if you have questions. Best, lori

I've been sucked into So You Think You Can Dance which fills my skill based reality show quota for the summer and am so far stupidly amused by Wipeout which fills my non-skills reality/game show quota.
I started with Project Runway last season but it turns out I'd grown bored with its repetitiveness. Same with Top Chef. Maybe after a couple seasons not watching I'll appeal again.

So is anyone still watching this? I caught a couple of episodes online, but haven't figured out when it airs now that I'm back in the US.
Tim Gunn has weighed in on Miley Cyrus though...
Miley Cyrus 'Tarty' According To Tim Gunn (http://www.timesoftheinternet.com/1243.html)
Tim Gunn is no stranger to the world of fashion, the fashion consultant and mentor on the Bravo network reality show Project Runway recently weighed in on 'tween idol, Miley Cyrus and her fashion sense. Not surprisingly, her sense of style doesn't resonate with Mr. Gunn.
Tim Gunn told OK! magazine, "Miley Cyrus is just a little too tarty, forgive me. I don't want her to look like she's going into a convent school, but it's just a little too much for a 15-year-old. If I didn't know better, I'd swear she was 25."

I've been watching! I don't like the contestants as much as previous seasons; no one really stands out at this point.
However, that being said - the winning ensemble for last week's challenge was amazing. I mean, it was obvious from the editing that it would be the winning outfit, but it was still pretty stunning.

I've been catching them on replay and saw lasty night after the convention. Like Pru, I have found this year's lineup lackluster and a whiney bunch. No real standouts, a few creations have caught my eye. My overall feeling is, this may be my last Project Runway, after last season, it feels like the franchise is done.
On a happy note, Chris March from Season 4 seems to have a thriving business. Chris March Design (http://www.chrismarchdesign.com).

Maybe that will shake things up a bit.
I'll have to catch up on episodes first before I can give opinions on contestants. The one who really bugs is Suede always referring to himself in the third person.

I realized that i haven't picked a favorite yet. There's no one who really stands out to me as being really consistent. I'll have to think more on this. I do know who I think needs to go at this point, ie: leather girl and tanning guy.

The both get on my every leather wearing, gilricious nerve.
I am leaning towards Slade and Kinnley (the guy with the blue in his hair and the girl that always wears a flower in her hair).
I was very happy to see the last 2 guys go.

I like Kenley and her retro look, but that might just be becasue I want to sleep with her. My secret favorite is Leane, the quiet moussy girl who has produced the most avant garde items out of nowhere. So far I've been happy with all the exits, especailly the last two.

I'm tired of Korto's constant frowny face on the runway. She's very talented, but the sourpuss she sports is very distracting.
I loved the drag queen challenge. That was fun. And the car parts one. I have a Vue, and I want a dress made out of my car!

Well, I'm enjoying this more and more as the end gets closer. I did see in a news report that the last 6 designers (including last night's auffed Joe) showed at Fashion week. Assuming they are going with 3 in the finals, I wonder who the 2 other red herrings are?
I really like'd Jerrell's work last night. She looked great. Kenley really needs to have her admoids out, that nasal twang is making me insane.
Everyone else last night made their models look like sausages cut in half, it was weird.
Has Leeanne made anything that is not blue?

That's pretty lame that Kenley got in based on a dress that was a total ripoff of Alexander McQueen.
McQueen's (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FW86_jO7k_A/SO4e49ClH5I/AAAAAAAAk0o/Oa9eBIHauiE/s1600-h/K_MQ.jpg)
Kenley's (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FW86_jO7k_A/SO4eN9zTliI/AAAAAAAAkyA/vanCvVXylk4/s1600-h/K_2.jpg)
I'm still rooting for Leanne.

Looking at those dresses, I can't believe she had the gall to say 'There was nothing of this shape in that collection' Ok, hers had more tulle showing, but the SHAPE sure looked the same to me!
I LOVED Leanne's dresses - I hope her collection doesn't look too 'the same' with that wave idea going throughout it, though.
I also really liked that Leanne took Tim bike riding! Laurelhurst park (where they went) is a really nice one to just chill at.

LOL! I clicked on the links from Steph at MP and didn't here. I thought the 1st link was McQueen's dress and Kenley's dress side by side.
Total rip off.

Kortu's collection was really beautiful. It wasn't something I would personally pick out or wear, but it was beautiful, cohesive and made exquisitely.
Kenley bugged the crap out of me on a personal level, but I seemed to like many of her styles (she is vintage inspired which is one of my own loves) but her final collection contained only one dress I really loved. She was my least favorite.
Leanne has precision, creativity and a freshness that seem to carry throughout her designs. While I'm not sure I would love to wear her clothes either, they were beautiful and I'm glad she won.

I much preferred Korto's collection. Kenley (I agree NA) irritating as can be, but her collection was fun. Leanne's collection just did not appeal to me, too muted, too much of the wave pattern. Cohesive, as they say, too much of the same to me. I'm glad for her, but I must confess I wish it had been Korto who won. I loved Korto's jewelry, not my style for me, but I thought it was stunning

I'm happy Leanne won. I loved her stuff. Now will someone give that girl a makeover? Her hairstyle could really use a little pick-me-up.
Korto's collection was beautiful too. I really liked that vibrant green color she used.
Kenley had yet another dress that was called out for being a copy of another designer. She seriously needs to learn not to do that.

But Kenley didn't KNOW about those other designers, so she didn't REALLY copy them!!!
At least she got rid of the rope around the neck thing she showed Tim when he visited.
I liked that there was SOME variety in Leanne's collection - just not quite as much as I would have liked - but then you run into the problem of 'It's not cohesive'.
And did Korto really make two looks while the others were just fitting and putting on closures and stuff? They still said she 'overworked' some stuff, can you imagine if she'd kept her overworked items in the collection?

News on the Project Ruway front..... Season 6 is on it's way (http://news-briefs.ew.com/2009/04/project-runway.html?cnn=yes).
After being orphaned for almost a year due to legal deadlock, the sixth season of Project Runway has finally found a home: on Lifetime, where it will air this summer. "NBC Universal, The Weinstein Company and Lifetime have resolved their disputes," read a statement released today by NBC Universal, which owns Bravo, Runway's home for five seasons. "The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All of the parties are pleased with the outcome." (When The Weinstein Co. announced last April that Runway would be moving to Lifetime, NBC Universal sued for breach of contract. Eventually, The Weinstein Co. countersued NBC Universal for allegedly failing to properly promote season 5, and Lifetime then sued both parties.)
