Though I've seen and done it more times than probably necessary and wasn't planning on going any time soon, it's still a sad event. :(

At least according to the article, Paramount is going to try to find a new home for the Experience.

I vote for SoCal. Then, I can have a Borg Sphere anytime I want. ;)

I think near Hollywood and Highland would be ideal, and would probably draw the visitors needed.

This is a major disappointment for me.

I've been indoctrinating my kids on Star Trek. We're in the middle of season 3 of The Next Generation. They love it and we've been having a lot of fun watching it together. And with this year's big family vacation being at Walt Disney World, I was hoping to take them to Star Trek: The Experience sometime next year. There's no room in the budget to make an impromptu jump down there before Sept 1.

I hope a new home is found.

I heard about this a bit ago and was sad. When we went to Quark's right after we got married the four of us (me, B, and our witnesses) shared a Warp Core Breach. Loved the look of the drink -- dry ice or something, and a way cool glass -- but it tasted truly horrible, like gatorade. We didn't finish it. But we bought the glass, and I keep flower petals that B has given me in it.:)

Last time I was in Vegas I stayed at the Hilton, butt didn't do it becasue the only Star Trek I know is from the original series and figured I wouldn't most of it.

I know that the original experience is a motion simulator. Is the Borg one as well? I remember being in the room, having the borg show up but I can't remember if there is a motion simulator at the end.

You are standing in a rectangular room with a bunch of other people in the 21st century. There is a bright flash of light, then darkness, then you are all standing in the round transporter bay of the Enterprise in the 24th century. The walls, ceiling, and floor are all completely changed but you experience no sense of motion. And this all happens in less than two seconds. It is an absolutely stunning effect!

I took the behind the scenes tour (which I highly recommend, but ONLY AFTER going on the regular version first!) and learned how it is done. It's absolutely brilliant.

The first time I went was before the addition of the Borg side. You got to go on it as much as you wanted for like $20 w/coupon. I rode it three times in a row cause it was so cool! Then the second time I went, for $35 you got both rides only once. The Borg was cool, but not as much fun as the original. I hope they put it into USH.

The one with the motion simulator. My head got jerked around and then the flashing lights = major headache. Weren't there flashing lights on both? IIRC, the Borg may have made it worse, but the motion simulator one is what started it all.

You can get them from the Star Trek: Experience store online (https://www.startrekexp.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=849). I got one for my daughter for her birthday last year. I was going to play a trick on her and secretly add more (http://www.roddenberry.com/?action=shop.product&pid=116100) to here collection each night as if they were multiplying overnight. Unfortunately her birthday budget would have gone way too high. She does need to have her tribble with her whenever we watch Star Trek though. (I'm such a proud papa of my little Trekkie.) :D

Maybe that was it. I just remember sitting on the motion simulator part and then being "shot at" which was strobes. Ouch.

I think the reason that it sucked so bad is because it was the last thing we did before driving back. I still think I shoulda made Shannon drive ;)

I was hoping to be able to go on it when I go in August, but the other part of my party can't do Star Tours, so this will be out.

I was warned on the ride. I reached out to touch the walls to test a theory and got my hand slapped down. I sweet-talked a guy in the gift shop into answering my question. It is definitely a fantastic transformation though I think we were on it before they added the Borg.

Going to Vegas in August - will it still be open? Have to hit it one last time.

It lead me to an Origional Series Enterprise Model (http://www.urban-collector.com/jun084859.html). I've been looking years for one of those. After I deck it out with fiber optics and the like it will take a place of honor in my still to be built theater room.

I don't know about that. There's a lot of cross-pollination of theme parks and movie studios. Just a brief list:

No thin krisps at the Star Trek Experience last weekend, but we did get in one last Warp Core Breach. Alas, $100 for the two of us to do the corny attractions got a "No," but it was nice visiting Quarks Bar and seeing the cool environment one last time.

In all seriousness, Alex and I will be heading to Vegas over the weekend to do this. We've been to Vegas several times together and a couple of times, we've been to the LV Hilton with intentions to go see this thing, and always backed out because it cost so damn much. This time to prevent such chicken-ness I pre-purchased the tickets for both of the attractions.

Well we visited it this weekend.

The Bord 4-D side is juat amazingly lame. Makes Honey I Shrunk the Audience look like the Citizen Kane of the genre.

The Klingon Encounter is much better. The teleportation effect is good. Standing on the bridge is neat. The movie is ok but the segment lines of the Soarin' type dome are extremely visible and the show feels very much luck Star Tours.

So one half is worth about $3. The other half I'd say $9. So anybody who paid more than $12 for them overpaid. Which is pretty much everybody since it costs $50.

But now we know and experienced it for ourself and it can go away because I'd never do it again anyway (and the world revolves around me).

Gary went to the bar there last time he was in Vegas but he didn't join his friends who went in the exhibit. He said he was glad he didn't waste the money from what they said about it!
