As a gift for donating to KCRW, we received 5 CDs:
Narrow Path by Josh One
Tiger, My Friend by Psapp
Push the Button by Chemical Brothers
Careless Love by Madeline Peyroux
Palookaville by Fatboy Slim
It's been a long time since I've bought new music, so that was a very welcome package.

Nope, I missed it. Heard the monologe was funny. Didn't hear anything about Gwen though.

UvaGirl, Maroon 5 'Songs About Jane' is awesome. I also have their live cd as well as their {I think it's called} Kira's Flowers cd. That was the band name before M-5. Pretty 80's if I remember correctly. I haven't listened to it much...
Today I picked up the QOTSA 'Lullibies to Paralyze'. Love that Josh Homme. The special edition comes with a DVD, today at BestBuy, $11.99.
I also picked up Dave Matthews Band at 'The Gorge' for my sis in law as she was there. That also has a DVD.
Three Days Grace, Alter Bridge 'One Day Remains', Jack Johnson, Breaking Benjamin 'We Are Not Alone'.
MickeyD, did you pick up the VH-1 metal collection? Or is it Big Hair collection? I can't remember. It all sounds pretty good.
Anyone have the Crossfade CD? I like their one song getting airplay.

LOL Well, that is why I was asking you...my $$ has been tapped out, in advance, for concert tickets. But it does look like a great CD. I tihnk it is a total '80s bands thing. I think that because I remember all of those videos when my chickie was about 2-4 so that would be '87-89 or so.
You didn't go see Motley Crew? {sp} It did in fact get rained on. AND they opened up the lawn seats last night....Well, everyone knew it was supposed to rain and by golly it did.
Oh, back to topic~ The QOTSA cd deluxe edition comes with a DVD and it is pretty cool, too. Bonus! :snap:

I finally got around to buying Maroon 5's Songs About Jane the other day.
I have Maroon 5's demo CD.
They sent a whole box of stickers, demos and pins to our school TV studio two years ago. For months I wore the pin on my bag and was always asked, "Who's Maroon 5?". But after a while I started getting, "I LOVE them!". I always found it funny for some reason. (But I find a lot of things funny that really aren't. :p ) Anyway, that was my story.
The most recent thing I've bought was Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights by HIM ...and a few AFI vinyls that I already had CD versions of.

Wait, I lied. I forgot about Tegan and Sara's album So Jealous that I bought. A few of my favorite songs by them are on their other albums, but still glad I got it. As is most of their music; it's mellow, yet has a good beat and meaningful lyrics.

Just came back from the record store. Bought:
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - B-Sides and Rarities
Yay! It's finally out! 3 cds of coolness with 20 years of tracks. There are even 2 or 3 songs I didn't already have.
David Bowie - David Live
Another yay! When Ryko reissued this one in the '90s, they added two songs to the original vinyl, but they left off the incredible live b-side version of 'Panic In Detroit'. Now it's here, along with 'Space Oddity'. I am so happy.
The Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette (25th Anniversary Edition)
Is my age showing? Another reissue to make my vinyl go bye-bye. The original 11-track album plus NINE bonus tracks and an mpg of the original 'Plan 9, Channel 7' video. Rock.
Smoosh - She Like Electric
Two sisters. Ages 10 and 12. Heather discovered this on KCRW (where else?). Surprisingly hip.

I just can't rave enough about El Bando En Fuego -- Lee Presson and the Nails. Yummy! Latin-influenced neo-swing. Plus they cover "Pink Elephants on Parade." And "Mexican Radio."

Bruno Nicolai's score for the Jess Franco film "El Conte Dracula"
Gotta get those Bowie and Damned releases, Mousepod! Thanks for the tip.

My most recent full-album puchase was Dream Academy. Yeah it's 20 years old, but I still dig it. I also want to get my hands on Terence Trant D'Arby's first CD. I still got about $30 in my iTunes account, so that may be next.
Otherwise I have been having fun finding techno and trance remixes of old Rock & Roll and 80's KROQ stuff. Also, some oddities like "Don't Box Me In" by Stuart Copeland and Stan Ridgeway (from the "Rumblefish" Soundtrack), "Elvis is Everywhere" by Mojo Nixon ("...everyone except the evil anti-ElvisL Michael J. Fox") and "Don't Pay the Ferryman" by Chris DeBurgh (he actually rocked before "Lady in Red")

Just got 5 more CDs from Amazon Japan. One is unashamedly J-Pop, the rest are Disney-related. Why oh why does Disney release the coolest music in Japan and saddle us with Disneymania volume 1-3? It seems like they're just remembering how to merchandise clothing and collectibles to us, now howzabout some music?
