Fun! I'm actually shocked how many of these I've been to. (I guess I love old-style restaurants. Old-style anything, actually.)

I want to try this place (http://www.ninoslongbeach.com/) out (it's on the list)!

I'm in! And I've always wanted to do a Clifton's swanking.

In honor of this thread, I stopped at Canter's to pick up dinner on the way home from work. (Just now.) Damn but they put too much cream cheese on a bagel! I'm not usually one to complain about that but there was about a 1:1 bagel:cheese ratio and I'm pretty sure that's not a good idea. Culinarily or heathwise.

I'm also amazed at how many of these restaurants I've been to.

I'm sad to know that La Fonda has closed. We tried to go to Langers one night with MP & H but they close early. It's in a really nice area.

I spent many a night at El Coyote drinking cheap margaritas and eating chips and salsa. My other favorite place of my youth was the Frolic Room. It was pretty old school before the Pantages was brought back from near death.

However, I've never been to the Americana, which I drive by on a regular basis.

Must have swankings.

THe Bahooka is on my list being close to my work place - but it has a reputation from back in the day when rules were more lax, for lunchtime cocktails and wasted afternoons so I have a hard time talking co-workers into going.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a swanking, but I do recommend Chili John's Restaurant in Burbank if you are local (about half way down on this page).

I'm sad to know that La Fonda has closed.

LaFonda has reopened, apparently (http://www.lafondala.com/)

Amazingly, I've been to several spots, still not yet to Pink's or Pig N Whistle.
