I'll call Verizon tomorrow, but I thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone who has Fios has had this problem. There are no recorded shows on the DVR (I deleted them all), but it says that it's still 74% full! And, it won't record anything. I've tried looking online. Someone in the Verizon forums had the same problem. Someone else posted a series of steps to fix the problem, starting with accessing the On Screen Diagnostics, I fiddled with the damn thing for almost an hour trying to find the On Screen Diagnostics. No luck.

I have such an unhealthy love/hate relationship with electronic gadgets... <sigh>

I have a FiOS DVR as well. My biggest problem so far is that it stops recording anytime there is a public service announcement. I'm going to call them next week and see about getting it replaced.

The new units supposedly have their USB ports unblocked, meaning you should be able to use an external USB drive to increase your storage.

You can buy a 1TB drive for less than $200.

Hit it with a bat.

When my DVR does weird things, I unplug it and wait 3 minutes, then plug it back in. It re-boots and all is well. Until the next time, that is....

Happy to help.It wasn't the baseball bat that fixed it, it was the kicking that did the trick :D

Ah yes, repairs via the "percussion method". I would know NOTHING of that ;)

As long as it doesn't let out the magic blue smoke, you're fine.

Actually, I called Verizon. They reinstalled the software and rebooted it.

I've done that several times. It appears to help for maybe a few days at most.

I heard some people are using TiVo with FiOS. That might be an option.

They said that if it happened again, they'd replace the box.

I just wish on demand was capable of replacing DVR's.

Qwest once promised any movie ever made, in any language, at any time. When will that happen?

This one is actually doable. We have on demand, all they need to do is increase the storage capacity of their servers.
