I just got a notice from the Cartoon Art Museum in SF about this (http://cartoonart.livejournal.com/14814.html)
The Totoro Forest Project Exhibition

Which of course led to this site (http://www.totoroforestproject.org/), too.
I smell a field trip report coming soon. :D

I wonder if Nate Wragg is involved. He did a Totoro painting (http://bp2.blogger.com/_eItGuOY7Jn8/SGFFvdc6mkI/AAAAAAAAAVo/gw9j9e9PVVc/s1600-h/MyTotoro.jpg) recently, and posted it on his blog.
ETA: Why, yes, right on his blog entry it says it's for that project.

What's the Totoro Forest? Is it where my neighbor Totoro lives??

Ask NA... up until recently, it was the Totoro Forest Project Auction. I heard the prices became a little steep...

Yeah we were out bid, but look forward to picking up the book as the art work is fabulous. Perhaps we'll get a chance to see some in person.

I bid (and was outbid) on 4 pieces from the auction and exhibition. If i lived closer to Emeryville, i would've been at the auction at Pixar. There was some fantastic work - most climbed above $500, some much higher. $500 is sort of my current stopping point for art acquisitions, so I didn't persue any of my loves beyond that point.
I will be buying the book - which I CAN afford - and if I can swing some time off, I'd love to see the exhibition.

We looked to see if we could attend, and I think the cheapest tickets were already sold out and it wouldv'e cost something over $200 per person just to attend.
