Since October is out of control and November doesn't promise to be any better, I thought I'd get a date on the calendar for a trip to India (Little that is). So whad you you say to an afternoon of exploring, shopping, eating and consuming Saffron Ice Cream?

Artesia anyone?

Not aiming for the Diwali Festival (http://uncharted.gseis.ucla.edu/forum/#nabble-td1099349)? Did that years ago: sublime. Sadly, I will, as usual, be on the other coast. :(

I already have another commitment for that evening, but I may swing by and get a taste.

OK folks. Is everyone still up for a trip to little India this Saturday?

I'm thinking we'll meet around 10amsih, wander about, have lunch then wander some more until people have to leave. I have to leave about 3.

Oh Crap. Can't do. Have to finish cleaning up at El Mio.

Keeping Sunday free for Goth Day (since I've always been vocal about moving it from August to November), so it looks like I'm gonna miss Little India. Waaaaaaa!

Still considering - have to balance with the goth day, assuming I decide to go to that.

Missed the swanking, but I'd be up for a midweek (eg: when I don't have to work) visit, if anyone wants to go.

Maybe in December I'd be up for something mid-week. I'm done with finals on Dec 10th but probably won't be available for much until after Nutcracker ends on the 14th at work.

After that, though... I see Disneyland in my future, as well as a day trip or two to downtown.

While not a swanking, Susan and I are headed over there this afternoon for a last minute search for something for me for the party.

Just found out there's a Little India in Artesia, only 20 min away from us. Hopefully, will be able to pick something up in the next few days.

I intended to go while I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago but just couldn't find the time. So I'm heading over this afternoon. Little India is about five miles from home but I've never been shopping there.

I'm sorry I didn't see that you were there, LindyHop! We ran over there on a whim needing to get some exotic mango powder. Kevin had called looking for a good shop to go to. By the time we got there K&S were all clothed in appropriate Bollywood attire! We just needed to get some accessories and find an elusive nose accoutrement. I got to go into a few shops that I hadn't visited yet and take K&S to my favorite store - Cottage Arts as well as force exotic sweets down their throats. Fig Newtons anyone?

Oh crap - I didn't sew this weekend. I still have to make a petticoat for myself, pants for him, and a choli for myself if there's time. I've got fabric for all three. (NA - you should see the choli fabric! I don't know if I can draft my own pattern in time - wish I knew where to find one.)

I'm wondering if you can just alter a t-shirt pattern for the choli? The pants should be easy. They don't have a lot of structure. Of, you can always make another trip to Little India. ;)

Prudence

I've made drawstring pants before, so I'm not worried about those or the petticoat. For the choli - I might get a boring pattern company pattern, which has a weirdly loose-fitting choli, and alter it. That way I'd at least have a starting point and the sleeve head already drafted, which I suck at. Making the torso more fitted shouldn't be a problem.

I had no clue that the Little India everyone was referring to was actually not in downtown LA somewhere. I'll visit sometime this week...

Damn... I spelled it wrong, which kinda ruined the whole joke.
