The boy and I went to the Halloween store and he chose to be the Joker from Dark Knight. He's in an adult size now. Which of course is more expensive than the kids but at least it's the deluxe version, which means it has pants. He also got the cool purple gloves. Dad will be in charge of makeup and hair, sadly Mom is lacking in those departments:blush:

Here as well. Our school principal, in an effort to discourage overly violent or sexy costumes, sent around a memo encouraging the kids to dress as figures from history or literature. Our daughter has settled on Edith Wilson. Our son is harder to pin down. First it was Wallace Stevens. Then we thought he'd decided on Joseph Welch but now his two best friends are going as Dean Acheson. He's going to have to make up his mind soon, so we can get our order in.

Lol! Not bad, Kevy! Though, you should have shaved your legs. ;)
I was thinking of going as a Gothic school girl., but, alas, my skirt is way to short. Someone washed it then stuck it in the dryer. Now it comes up to my butt.
And it was my favorite skirt! :(
Oh well, now I'm going as a vampire. That should be fun and hopefully next year I'll be the Gothic school girl.

They did that for awhile around here as a way to make it okay to celebrate Halloween without them religious folks getting their panties in a twist. It was just an excuse on paper though - everyone seemed to dress up however they wanted anyway.

Our school principal, in an effort to discourage overly violent or sexy costumes, sent around a memo encouraging the kids to dress as figures from history or literature.Even that could cause problems if the kids are creative enough (and I am sure kids will find creative ways to mess with faculty at school [although I never did ;) ]).
For example, girls could go as Lady Godiva as she took her protest ride. Boys could go as Cohen the Barbarian.

Basically, he is a spoof of a heroes - what they would be like if they survived and got old.

Actually, that sounds just about perfect. :D
My Tony Stark costume is coming along nicely. I made the mold for the arc reactor, bought the plastic, mounted the LEDs on the back plate. I just need to solder the circuit and assemble it all together. And I started growing the beard 2 weeks ago.
I'm keeping everyone at work in the dark about my costume. I want it to be a surprise. So I'm currently growing a full beard just to throw people off. So far the guesses are Obi Wan Kenobi (I great idea that I'm saving for another time), Chewbacca, an ewok. One guy did guess that I was making a full Iron Man costume. So close.

*Rolls eyes and snickers a little*
I would wear it, but, mom wouldn't let me, due to the fact that we're having my guy friends over and last year was fun with my KH2 Kairi costume since it was short. Luckily, I wore tights with it.
Cool! A Tony Stark costume. Great idea!

Right on, mom! You'll have lots of years to wear costumes with tiny skirts, ToriBear, no worries. (It seems that's all they sell for adults these days!) But I bet your vampire costume will be fun. Is it a Twilight-specific vampire? (I'm getting excited for the movie.)

I'm having that problem with my Jem costume. I cut the asymmetrical "slant" on the dress WAY too high. Indecently high. Now instead of looking for white/silver sparkly nylons, I'm looking for leggings. Do you know how hard those are to find in 2XL? (As they say, spandex is a privilege, not a right). I may cheat and get some shorts or something. Not very Jem-like, but I have too big a butt to purposely expose it.

I adore E-bay, btw. I tried some thrift store shopping for my costumes with no luck. I looked into buying some of the stuff new, but I quickly would have been well over $100 per costume (I have 2 parties, with 2 different themes to attend) going that route. And I tried giving up and looking at costume stores for the crappy versions, and THOSE would cost nearly $100 each.
But a few mintues on E-bay, and I've got just about everything for BOTH costumes for under $100 total. And legit stuff, not crappy costume-grade junk.
