Sophisticated and terrifying, Carrie is one of our favorite horror movies ever! DePalma's direction, Spacek's fantastic performance and some great 70s cheese make this one of the scariest and most fun films in the canon. The humiliation of high school reaches its peak with the taunting of oddball student Carrie, who's telekinetic powers allow her to exact a hair-raising revenge. The cast is top notch, including John Travolta, Karen Allen, and PJ Soles with an unforgettable performance by Piper Laurie as the fanatical mom. Join us under the stars for this one-night-only screening of De Palma's masterpiece.

And that's a Big Big, Fat BUT ... if certain of you get my drift of a schedule conflict!

How I love this movie! Funny, over the top, lurid, touching, and genuinely scary. I rate it well above The Exorcist in the fear film lineup.

Has anyone heard Carrie - The Musical (http://carriefansite.blogspot.com/2007/04/carrie-musical_25.html)? I used to have a bootleg cassette. Now all the songs are freely available online. It's, um, ... well ...

I don't think I've ever seen it all the way through. I wasn't allowed to go to R movies when it came out. All my friends went but noooooo. Maybe I'll make Madz go? Ok can't bring a 12 year old to see Carrie in a Cemetary - well you can but... oh God I'm turning into my Mother, you're 12 no R movies.

I'm out :(

hee hee she said carp.....

But oh man, I would LOVE to see this. I too have wanted to see one in the cemetary and 'Carrie'...OMG! You guys are cracking me up with your movie quotes!!

I saw it on sale at either Best Buy or Circuit City and am tempted....

Katie Sue, so, a 12 year old girl shouldn't see this? What do you guys think about a 14 year old boy????

I wish I could remember what grade I was in when I read the book....

Actually Madz would probably fine. I can't take gore and from what I remember the parts I saw of it was through my fingers over my face.

Me, too. I was watching the Lindsay Lohan movie 'I Know Who Killed Me' {yes, it was stupid, and, I only watched it to see how stupid it could be...very very stupid....I think they just wanted to show her pole dancing} through my fingers.

I don't know if I'll buy it. I also thought of buying 'Wrong Turn' for my sis to watch {freaky storyline, I was comparing it to something in the news} but I don't think I can watch it again. Or that I really watched it the first time.

But, the cemetary would be awesome!!

I was twelve when I saw this, and it put me into conniptions. I was definitely not old enough for Carrie, but it certainly made an impression! (Note that the opening sequence has lots of soft focus nudity, followed by flying tampons and really really mean girls!)

Carrie was my first audience partipation movie. It was 2 or three years before Rocky Horror (well, before RHPS started screening at midnight) ... and my friends and I saw it over and over again, and started saying things to the screen and throwing props ... it really was the Rocky Horror precursor in my life.

But i got such the potty mouth from it. (This happens to me a lot. I also cursed like a sailor whenever Deadwood was on the air ... and now that I'm addicted to True Blood, I find myself speaking with a southern accent a lot. Oi.)

If I'm not careful I start picking up speech mannerisms from the people around me. I don't pick it up from things I watch so much anymore. I used to find a lot of British and Scottish accent things creeping in when I was a kid- I watched Star Trek and British tv pretty obsessively.

I was so Aussie when the Lashpair were in town. I had to explain I wasn't mocking them.

I start talking with a southern accent if I spend to much time talking to my Dallas office, or listening to country music.
