Hooray for Costume Changes.
Yes, pics please of Saturday's Festivities - - though I don't think there were any shots of my Jimmie Hendrix's Ghost (and perhaps 1 of my explorer, which everyone presumed to be David Livingston).
But there were so many standouts. LSPoorEeyorick and Tom as the cast of Sweeney Todd. Not Afraid AND Kevy Baby as JonBenet Ramsey (the former with no less than 3 Beauty Pageant costume changes, the latter with disturbing beard and frilly pantaloons) ... Cadaverous Pallor brillant as Carrie White dripping in pig's blood ... €uroMeinke with perfect historical timing as Laika the space-faring dog.
So many others. Where is the photographic proof???
OMG, kudos to Euro for obscure but awesome references!
Where are the pics, ppl?

Wish we could have dealt with a camera, but dripping in blood doesn't help :)

I'm still vacuuming up pink glitter from that damn ruffled skirt. Heh. It's the gift that keeps on giving, kinda like the post-traumatic nightmares after seeing Kevy in that frock. ;)
Love the photos!!! :snap:

I got Lisa to show me how she did the hat - two paper doilies, a cardboard cake round, and a paper bowl. I love when people can improvise with materials and make them look better than purchased items!
Mine was made with an Omaha Steaks cooler, a dremel tool, plastic from a 'bed in a bag' set, swiss army knife, a hot glue gun and blue-white LED tap lights. Oh and modified vampire makeup, hair gel and black hairspray. And mascara to dye the mustache (after the hair dye didn't work out on it).

For the first time in a long time I'm looking forward to a Simpsons episode. I'd even given up on the Treehouse of Horrors. But I saw the ad for this years - they're spoofing It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
Me too! We were so looking forward to it. And. It. Sucked.
Damnit.

Damnit.Yeah, pretty lame. There were a few good jokes in each section but ultimately they fall flat. I did like most of the voting booth bit.
"That's. Six. Votes. For John McCain."
"I only meant one of those votes!"

Well, love the stuff and I missed the celebrations proper in Mexico last year when I was there (I was sick as a dog, duh). My roomie is all about getting back to Mexico, so I suggested that we do an altar.
So I treked to a cool shop in the Mission that carries all the stuff you would ever need (and I probably paid more than I should have for some of the things) and we did it (she did most of the work, she's more artistic than me). It was fun.
Then on the day, we toasted everyone and had traditional mole and tamales (the tamales were not traditional, but they were YUMMY, butternut squash and corn).
I am sure we will do it again next year. Sadly, so many lost friends, in the move back and forth (and Dian cleaning house while I was in VA) disposed of many pics from parties with now absent friends I and she would have loved to have had up on the altar.
next year, I'm going to the parade in the Mission, some pics can be seen here at fogbay.com (www.fogbay.com) (go to the last page).
Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I really enjoyed putting this together.

You must spread some Mojo around before giving it to Snowflake again.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I would love to do something like this for my dad.
That is so cool. Excellent altar. I should check out that place in the Mission, though if it's pricey I probably actually should not; but I'd love seeing it. There used to be a place on Haight that sold all the stuff too, but that was years ago, it might be gone now.
Mole and butternut squash tamales? Sounds heavenly.
Is that a working fireplace? The mantle is so awesome. I miss living in SF. The last house I lived in on Page St. had a lot of beautiful old details like that. But our fireplace could not be used.
And CM?
Bon Jovi should be honored. That costume just rocks.

Okay, bought the stuff here (http://www.casabonampak.com/). It was not too expensive, but I bought several items. Average price per was about $5-6, the maracas were $15 each and same for the larger skulls.
The tamales were from Primavera (http://www.primaveratamales.com/html/products.php) $10 for 4 at Mollie Stones Market. There's a list on their page of groceries all over the Bay Area that carry them. They were awesome, believe me.
I think, dear Deebs, you absolutely MUST do one for your Dad. Since I could not put a steak up on the mantle, and they do not make Olympia Beer anymore, my Dad had to do with a Bohemia! ;) My boy kitty had some kibble and his favorite mice toys.
Yes, the fireplace is a working fireplace. Our building was constructed in 1940 and you can see the building lobby here (http://misc-a-v.blogspot.com/2008/06/journey-begins-with-first-step.html). Most of the apartments renting now have had many of the vintage touches removed. They've been (sacrilage!) redoing the gorgeous deco bathrooms in some of them. Thank goodness we've been in this apartment for 21 years, rent control rules! Otherwise, I'd be living in a crackerbox out on Geneva and Naples.
And, I concur, Matt's costume is incredible!
