We realized we wanted to be with other people tomorrow night as the results roll in, so this is an open invite to all of you, to join us at our place for dinner. Let me know if you want to join us, and if you need directions, etc.

Someone send an ambulance to iSm's place. I believe that he just had a heart-attack (due to the creation of another election thread).

:D ;)

Ehh, he was the one who asked us to throw the party.

I will be there in spirit, as well as being e-connected. :)

That's right ... no ambulance necessary ... I will arrive on horseback (or would Donkey be more appropriate for this occasion?)

Will be in Burbank with friends. Thanks for the invitation.

Definitely Donkey.

I have committed myself to another gathering. But I appreciate the invite.
:)

And, by the way, this thread title makes me think of the movie Impromptu which I love.
:)

Wish I could. I'll be there in spirit, and in my living room in person.

Need to talk to Chris and Thurston.

We are also otherwise committed. Though I hope to drag our laptop along to keep in virtual touch.

I wish I could be there.

But it's a school night, and it is 330 miles from my driveway to yours. :(

It's a school night... maybe. Tempting, that's for sure.

I might, lemme make some calls!

We're a "no". :(

Yes dear, we know how you're voting, but what about the party? ;)

Oi, LSP and Tom .... DO NOT feel like heels if you cancel Tomorrow if I'm the only one who can make it.

I have high hopes remaining for NA and €uro. But gee, I had hoped Gemini Cricket could have made it - - - I want to spend election night with at least one current subscriber. Le sigh.

Seems like an election results party would be a completely appropriate place to write a poly sci paper.

It has nothing to do with Chris or Thurston but I have an overnight with some greyhounds in Seal Beach, so I'm a no.

Alas, I have to go view election results with work people. I've been neglecting my networking duties.

LSPoorEeyorick
11-03-2008, 09:33 PM
Well, since nobody else is coming... iSm, we're still happy to have you. But if you decide you don't want to come tomorrow, would you please let us know tonight? We do need to do some cleaning and prep, but if it'll just be the two of us we will probably stay living in squalor.

I'll be celebrating the fact that this ridiculous election is finally over. I will toast an end to the horrible and intrusive campaign ads and will welcome back friends on both sides from the brink of political insanity.

I can't even sleep right now, I feel like I'm going to throw up over the Prop 8 thing. To feel the hatred of half of the members of your state directed at a core part of your being.... I've just never felt the "bubble of tolerance" that I've lived in for so long dissipate so clearly. I haven't been this horrified since... well.... the death of Matthew Shepard, really.

Yeah I'm all melodramatic, but it is truly affecting me. I would love to go into a Mormon church with a bullhorn and scream at them till they come and arrest me.

oh, i can't abide the thought of squalor being cleaned just for me.

So ..... sigh, no .... I've actually been invited to a big Obama bash and I think I'll go to that. It is bound to be high energy and happy, and maybe that will be best, even though the presidential election is really an afterthought with me.

Sorry the arugula party didn't work out. It's so hard for people to go out on school nights.

Apologies for getting back to you so late. I just got back from seeing W. (Rather a mess of a film, and seeing the baboon gone from office at last leaves me more depressed than ecstatic after seeing Brolin's portrayal in this film. What a wretched era.)

Well, get out your bullhorn, baby, cause if it passes I'll be at Santa Monica and San Vicente tomorrow, marching towards the Mormon Temple in Westwood.

If I can get a couple thousand friends to join me, that is.

If 8 passes, someone should start a petition to get an inititive on the ballot that would amend the State Constitution to forbid the practice of Mormonism.

I love how my Mormon friends were totally nonplussed when I asked how happy they were the rest of the United States decided their definition of marriage was immoral and illegal.

We didn't get arrested during the AB101 marches, I doubt that a peaceful, i.e., no destruction of property, march would get us arrested now.

Nice, easy, beginner protest march, straight down Santa Monica Blvd. and back. I'm thinking 4 or 5 in the evening. Fvcks up traffic all kinds of ways. "You don't like being stuck in traffic? Go home and tell your wife!"

Hey, so, apparently the party is still on if anyone changes their mind. Our guest list is up to hosts plus 3, depending on timing. So join us for this historic night if you can.

Haha, well we'll see who gets there first. My cross-town from Century City to the eastern side of Hollywood is no picnic either.

But I'm very happy to be spending Election Night with friends!

Yeah the hellish cross-town thing is worse than the 405.

Thanks LSPE and Tom for hosting the revived improptu election night party. It certainly saved me from spending the night getting drunk at some random gay bar in WeHo just to be around family when the good or bad news came down.

It was much more fun getting drunk with you guys and Cherny and B.J. and EH1812!

By the way, I gave EH1812 a ride home as soon as I ascertained I could indeed sober and wake up immediately when finding myself behind the wheel of a large automobile, as per usual practice.

I'm still not giving up entirely on Prop 8, but i am deeply ashamed of Los Angeles and California right now.

Still, the Obama win is amazing, and it was wonderful to share that with you guys tonight.

Home safe.

Out.

And thanks so much to those of you who joined us. It was really special to share that bit of history with you.

And thanks to Tom, who turned squalor into company-appropriate in less than an hour. How he did it, I don't know!
