...or Thanksgiving as some would prefer to call it... PFFT!
As I make a foray into new Thanksgiving traditions, I'm wondering what some of yours are.
Any special plans this year? Traditions? Really cool new recipes you're excited to try?

I have no idea what we're doing for Thanksgiving this year. Probably go to a restaurant or maybe have a just-the-two-of-us dinner.

We're going to my sister's, as usual.

We usually have some LoT guests along with my mother-in-law, but it seems it'll just be the three of us this year.

Going to my parents this year. Only my parents and brother for a change maybe my sister and her family. Nothing big since everyone has plans and my brother is in another state with his family. I can't even begin to think of Thanksgiving let alone Xmas this year and wanna say "Ba hum bug" to everyone.

Going to my cousins where we'll annoy my mom and his wife with our disappearing for a ride in his really fast car without telling anyone.

My birthday is a national holiday this year.
Why do I mention that in this thread? Because my BD and Thanksgiving are the same day: November 27.

We're scheduled to close on the house that weekend. If we can pause for Thanksgiving, I'll be grateful.

We're in Thanksgiving limbo. Everyone (Mom, Aunt, Cousin, Godmother) were scheduled to come to my house. But Mom's still in the hospital with no end in sight so I'm guessing some or part of us willl end up there.
Madz and I may just go to Disneyland. She won't eat any Thanksgiving food anyway.

I was supposed to be doing the big dinner at my house but now my fil has disappeared and my Mom's brother is dying so she may not make it out for Thanksgiving. I may just take the family and run away to the beach!
On a happier note I was planning on trying a pumpkin roll. It's like a yule log but pumpkin. It sounded delicious.

Had me scratching my head for a minute.

Thanksgiving is just another day this year, because the greedy bastards at work decided that we don't need to spend the day with family anymore...

Kevy: there is a dessert called a Yule Log (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%BBche_de_No%C3%ABl), which resembles/tributes the Yule Log you're talking about (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yule_log).

I thought that Yule logs came the morning after Christmas dinner...

I am doing nothing. The Old People won't be home by Thanksgiving. The Boy will be dining with the ex-in-laws. When he gets home we may go to a friend's house, but probably not.

It's an even-numbered year, so we see my even-keeled in-laws. Unlike the odd years, where we see my family. :)
I just volunteered to be the organizer for the library's Thanksgiving Baskets. We fill them with Thanksgiving goodies and a local charity gives them to poor families. Each city dept does at least one, and I'll probably end up with three. I worked on this back in 2006 and loved it.
If we all lived closer I'd work on a basket from the LoT, too. I'm sure you'll all have a chance to donate, somewhere, this holiday season. :)

I don't know what I'm doing for turkey day. I'm torn between cooking for just us here, inviting people over, trying to join in on festivities elsewhere, making weepy phone calls to my mom because I'm not at her place, drinking myself into a stupor, finding a Chinese food buffet somewhere, or something else I haven't even contemplated yet.

... finding a Chinese food buffet somewhere...You can't do that until Christmas

NA will likely be working, so I'll be home. Maybe I'll clean out my closet or something else productive - or just download porn

Our family meets another family for the DL Hotel Buffet at 3PM, but since I'm probably going to have to work, just part of the family will meet another family...we'll wait and see what my schedule will be for that day.

I'll be recovering from knee surgery 2 days prior. Other than that, I'll eat at some point.

We're having a couple of friends over.
We rarely do traditional, except stuffing and, of course, pie.
This year we're doing a vegetarian meal, I'm looking forward to it and being creative.

No real plans. We were going to go to Vegas, but we decided it would be too annoying. So we're staying here, and likely going to find a restaurant for the big dinner thing.
I'd like to see some friends but it probably won't happen.
Don't have traditions since I moved away from my family. I'm somewhat conflicted about it. Be nice to have a "thing we always do" but at the same time, feels constricting. Not to mention that we don't have family anywhere close. Vegas, but we've already ruled that out for this year.
Maybe we'll go mountain biking.

We're still sorting out the holidays. Will end up at somebody's house, just don't know whose.

wake....drive, arrive at psuedo family gathering, eat...head off to actual family gathering, eat more...move on to yet another psuedo family gathering. eat yet again. come home, wish I were dead...pass out like I really was.
bottom line...same thing as last year
I should be good and sick of turkey by the end of T-day
