A previously unknown population of vampire moths has been found in Siberia. And in a twist worthy of a Halloween horror movie, entomologists say the bloodsuckers may have evolved from a purely fruit-eating species.http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/bigphotos/images/081027-vampire-moth-evolution-halloween-missions_big.jpg

(Post deleted lest I offend - it really was in extremely poor taste.)

Screw it: I'm gonna post. But I warn that it is VERY tacky. Know that it is posted in good humour and NOT meant to offend (though I am sure some will still be offended anyways).

I am not responsible if you click further

Does that mean that this vampire used to prey on homosexuals only, but now feeds on all?

Presumably they did some testing on whether these moths transmit any blood-born pathogens before sitting around all day serving themselves up.

They're scientists not lab technicians;)

I'm glad they're not around here, they look big!

For moths, they aren't all that big.

This is a big moth:

I would never leave my house if there were giant blood sucking moths like that one!!

Yeah but I was guessing there would be little wings folded up somewhere, surely. It's body seemed big compared to that of a moth or butterfly.
