And we are heart broken.....
Our beloved Tigger, an orange tabby, ran away on Thanksgiving. He use to be an indoor/outdoor cat but he would come home with fight damage. Once we had to take him to the vet with an absess from a cat bite, and needed to be operated on to save his life. So we started keeping him in all of the time. He is a very friendly, people loving cat.
But he longed for the great outdoors. So he would escape once in a while. But he would come back later in the day, or the next day. The longest he stayed out was for two days. He's 9 years old, and hasn't been out much the past couple of years. He's in good health, but not in the best shape any more. And now after two weeks I'm fearing the worst. I've checked the OCPETINFO.COM website, we've checked at the pound, and I've put up fliers with no results. He had a collar with our address on it.
I would hope that if someone found him that they would have the heart to return him. And I would hope that if someone found him dead (or killed him) that they would have just tossed him in the trash. It's the not knowing what happened that's the worst....
It would be the best Christmas pressent ever to get our Tigger back!

Come back, Tigger! We miss you!

:(
Oh, I am sorry. What a fine looking boy Tigger is! We lost a very friendly indoor/outdoor cat one year, on Christmas Day. He was all the time jumping into open trunks, so I've always hoped that someone nice found him and loved him, because that cat loved everyone. You are right, it's the not knowing that really sucks. I hope Tigger comes home.

Thanks Deebs. That's one thing I think about is that he is so freindly that perhaps he is with a family that can love him as well.
One thing I forgot to mention, is that domesticated cats are really not suited for the dangers of outdoor life. The best thing is to raise them to be indoor cats only. It is much safer, and then they won't long for the outdoors like Tigger. Our second cat, Dopey, never has gone outside and is afraid to cross the doorway. Tigger, on the other hand, would sit by the door when someone went out so that he could dart out the second they opened the door. Also, i had to replace all the screens in the house with the pet-proof kind because he would scratch a hole in them and jump out.
And as you can see in the picture, I enclosed the patio and built a shelf so they can sit out and have a view and warm in the sun. It's also nice to have the catbox outside....;)
So please, for the sake of your pet keep the cats indoors.

Very sorry to hear about Tigger, RStar. I hope he comes back safely and soon.
Ours are not allowed outside past the front or back patio, and then only when we're out there with them.

Ours are all indoor kitties as well- in our neighborhood, it's too easy for a coyote, cougar, owl or hawk to get them. We see signs up for missing kitties all the time and it's heartbreaking.:(
I hope you get your Tigger back, R.

I know this heartbreak very well. My Templar ran away a few years ago, and I never got him back. My Illuminati disappeared during a storm earlier this year, but sauntered back nonchalantly five days later. My relief on getting 'Nati back was as deeply felt as my grief at losing Templar. Pets can have an incredible hold on our thoughts and feelings. Tons of hopeful cat mojo for you, RStar.

Thank you all! Your warm thoughts help a LoT! :snap:
I just felt that if I posted here sounding cheery but had this cloud over my head I was being less than honest. So I thought I should let you know. Tigger is an important part of our family.
I'll keep you posted if I find out anything.

Make sure you check the local shelters and rescues daily. Is he chipped?

I'm not sure of all the places I should check. My DD went to the pound by the Block of Orange. They told her to check that website that covers most of this side of Orange County. Any other ideas if he gets lost in Garden Grove?
He's not chipped, unfortuatly. He does have a collar with our address so if someone finds him they could easily track us down (unless he lost his collar, which has never happened to him before).

I'm so sorry Tigger has gotten himself lost. I hope he finds his way home soon.
My Sylvester was lost for almost a year and he came home safe and sound. I have faith that Tigger will too! Keep the faith and keep searching!

Oh, wow. A year? That is a reason to be hopeful! What a happy ending.
Go home, Tigger. But don't wait a year. Quick, because everyone is waiting for you.
Oh, and our new kitty is strictly an indoor pet. She doesn't even seem to want to go out. Except when I go out to do the laundry, she tries to follow me into the garage, but that's not really outside.

One of our cats (Rufio) insists on being able to go outdoors (he lets us know when he has been in too long by peeing where he shouldn't ). But he is a super-sweet cat and has made many friends in the neighborhood. There is ever one woman in our complex who calls him her "One-Night-Stand" because he has been known to spend the occasional night there.
Because he is so friendly, I long ago accepted that he may some day disappear and I can find comfort in the fact that he is probably with a loving family.

I hope you find Tigger. He looks like our Jonny. Ours are indoors only and the only one who shows interests in getting out is Jovi since she came to us from the outdoors. She did manage to escape once for an hour and a half more like two hours but came when i brought out the cat treats shaking the can and calling her by name. She is chipped the boys aren't. She still loves the outdoors and i don't think she'd try to escape but if she ever does i won't panic like i previously did.
Here's hoping you find Tigger or he comes back to you.

Today I got two calls from the posters I put out! Both were just around the corner from me. One sounds promissing, she has seen him eating over there from the cat food she puts out for her cats. She will call me when she sees him feed again.
At least it's a little bit of hope!

Little? He tips the scales at 13 lbs! :D
Thanks guys! :snap:
The gal who called takes in strays and knows the other cats in the area well. So I feel that if she thinks it's him, I can trust that pretty well. The first call was a different breed all together, long hair, and had no tail. The second caller knew which cat that was when I mentioned it to her, and even knew it's name was moochie (cute name, huh?). So I'm starting to feel more hopefull again.....

Ohhh here's hoping it's Tigger. Sure enough if there is food around he'll come to eat someplace if he's a moocher cat. :)

Well, the weather has been pretty rough so he has most likely been in hiding. So no calls yet from the lady who has seen him.
