View Full Version : Game night at Pru's: The Saga Continues...

We were thinking of hosting a particularly informal game afternoon or evening while we still have festive decorations up and looking...festive. This is a pretty dang busy time of year, however, so I'm not sure if there are any calendar spots left available. I've got the day off now on the 26th, so I thought I'd check and see if anyone was available that afternoon or evening for some Boxing Day festivities. Anyone?

Alas, we love the Pru Game Nights, but we will be out of town for the rest of the month, save the 30th and 31st. We'll be sure to attend the next one, though!

Wish I could be there! I'll be freezing my ass off in the meanwhile.

I may be able to make Friday. What time did you have in mind? I have one thing to do in the afternoon, and then I'd be free.

We're debating Friday v. Saturday, as I want to get to the park sometime this weekend and I have tutoring on Saturday morning. Of course, if Friday is a better day for games, I could see about switching my client to Friday....
Prudence
12-25-2008, 11:22 PM
Okay, kids, we're sticking with Friday. 6pm? I have to get up and tutor the next morning, so we won't be going too awfully late. I'm not sure what we're going to do food-wise - I'll likely have a bunch of party mix and some sugar cookies and we'll figure out something from there! Might be toasted cheese sammies and soup or something of that nature.

Game night is on temporary hiatus because of my travel. I'm hoping to host another one the last weekend in February, but that's still up in the air because I don't know yet that I'm not going to be gone that week, too. But, tentatively I'd be looking at Feb 28, Saturday, for the next one.
Prudence

Okay - I accept that my apartment will never be clean and so I should stop waiting for that point to announce a game night. My schedule is a little bit up in the air because, to be blunt, we're waiting for my grandmother to die and I'm not sure how soon that will be and how soon the memorial service will be after that time. Assuming I'm still here this up-coming weekend, would anyone be available Friday or Saturday evening? The pre-determined theme for the evening would be: Pie.
Cadaverous Pallor
05-25-2009, 07:17 PM
Super busy Friday (late night in LA for concert) then work Saturday so I make no promises for Sat night, I'll probably be a total mess.
Bummer, I am always waiting for the next game night.
So sorry to hear about your grandmother. Things seem tough all over lately. :( I don't want to derail your game thread, but I wish you and your family strength.

I'd be out of commission Saturday due to work, but if you decide on Friday, that would be possible.
And hey, it beats trying to get my place clean for game night!

Prudence
05-28-2009, 08:07 AM
I'm going to try to host it Friday, if it's not too late notice and if anyone can still come. If it's a small group, that's okay; I'll feel less horrible about not having time to clean. Anyone have an issue with onions, eggs, cheese, or various herbs?

Uh, no? Those are just the major ingredients for a particular savory pie recipe. It's the vegetarian option, so I was intending to check that it was Safe For Everyone by listing the major potential allergens/system disruptors.

I almost didn't have this one because I knew you couldn't be there! But, I haven't had one in so long and I'm feeling kind of needy.
Anyhow, for those who can make it - 6ish? Call or PM if you need directions. You're welcome to bring additional games - bonus points if they fit the pie theme. You're welcome to bring additional munchies; I'm providing sweet and savory pie and a selection of beverages.
This time game night comes complete with some wacky co-workers, I hope!

I think that would be good for me. We'll do our best to make it. Can we bring anything?
Prudence
07-29-2009, 05:31 PM
Yes, it is next friday, in the month of August, and not this friday, which is the month of july and on which day I have to work, which means I'll be grumpy. I'm just too lazy to go look at the calendar for the actual date.
I'm not sure what I'm making that night - might be something pesto, since we have a sh!t-ton of basil outside - but finger foods are usually good.

Okay - the good news is that game night is still on for THIS FRIDAY. The bad news is that work canceled my day off so that I could re-take a training I already took and which is the very basic overview introduction to the work I do EVERY SINGLE DAY because they can't seem to grasp that "we need more training beyond the introductory level" does not mean "we need more training at the introductory level". But I digress.
Anyhow, the point of this is that I need time to slog home and start cooking, so start time is 7ish. (And that means that yes, you are free to come as early as 7 -- 7 doesn't secretly mean 9.) You can come earlier, but you'll have to watch me cook.
Culinary theme this month is summer salads. I'm planning to make three - 1 meat and 2 non. Feel free to bring anything else to snack upon -- veggies, fruit, and chip-like items would be my suggestions.
And now, I must ick-thump.

Honestly, driving to LA on a Friday night does not sound like fun, regardless of how fun game nights are.
That said, my Saturday's are about to become occupied with hockey games it's unlikely I'll be free for a Saturday game anytime soon - so don't change that on my account. Just sayin' why I'm not coming up on a Friday.

Pru lives on the traffic-less side of LAX. It's an easy drive from 605 onward. (And, may be easy in OC, but I don't know for sure.)

Traffic in OC has been a nightmare lately. Took me an hour to go from Sand Canyon to Euclid a few weeks ago.

Don't know what time Pru was thinking of kicking things off, but I'm guessing she's not thinking too early. If you hang out 'till 7 or so, traffic shouldn't be a problem.

I think things are too crazy right now for me to do the 4th - too much to finish application-wise before Labor Day, and I need to get things in the mail that night. So, sadly, the 11th it is.
