cool, work safe optical illusion (http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/fcs_thompson-thatcher/index.html)I actually spotted the differences before I flipped the images. I'm weird that way.

LoTs more where that came from (http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/index.html).I want the eyes that follow your cursor across the screen :D

I was just reading about the fact that if you take a concave mold of a face, (e.g., the busts in Haunted Mansion that follow you) and slowly rotate it, it'll look like it's rotating in the opposite direction. Then, as the front of the mask comes into view, looking like it's rotating in the correct direction, it will look like the inverse one is "eating" the other one. I want to see that.

I came here expecting to see Margaret Thatcher turn into two vases. I leave disappointed.

I can't get that one to work for me.

On the Thatcher one I noticed immediately that the pictures were different and that the facial features on the right were flipped vertically. What I found interesting is that upside down I didn't recognize just how repugnant she looked (overall she still looked mostly fine). That's the "illusion" I took from it.

I noticed they were different, but I thought the one on the right was just "older", not inverted. And yes, after rotating them over, the flipped features were quite frightening! Thatcher Zombie of the living dead, anyone?

Although with my stuffy nose (due to a cold), I am personally sounding even more unsexy than usual.

More optical fun. I was assuming that this was going to be one of those gifs where it flashes to a scary image in your face, but turned out to be a legitimate illusion. A damn good one at that.

OMG this one's a mind-fck. When you first look at this animated image, you'll see the girl spinning in one direction or another (I saw her as spinning counter-clockwise, but I think most people will see her as spinning clockwise). If you stare at her shadow/foot for a while, you'll be able to flip it so you'll now think she's spinning the opposite way!

It took me quite a bit of staring to get her to flip the first time (focusing on the foot really helped me). And then, for a while, I couldn't go back! Now after a bit more staring I can change which direction I perceive the spinning at will.

I'm so distracted by her shadow boobies that I don't much care which direction she spins.

I can't get her to spin counter clockwise.

MMmmmm.... shadow boobies....

ABG: try looking at her FOOT, not her shadow boobies. It's easier to get her to change rotation that way. :D

She has feet?

Actually, once I focused on the feet, I can't get her to turn Deosil. It's just the way my brain works.

I keep seeing the shadow of her foot and it convinces me that she's rotating clockwise. She remains stubborn in her original rotation.

Works awesome for me. If you cover her up with your hand and just look at the shadow (reflection?) you can flip her back and forth.

I found that watching the illusion on this page (http://ofb.net/~whuang/imgs/spin/) helped me do it. Now, I can look at the image in GD's post and do it.
Very cool.

OK, this one is weird, GD!

I only see her counter-clockwise in this image, no matter what I try. I see her left leg as her supporting leg, right leg as the lifted/working leg, making her only turn to the left.

Ooh it's like having Jedi mind powers. :D Ha, I want my Jedi mind powers!

Works awesome for me. If you cover her up with your hand and just look at the shadow (reflection?) you can flip her back and forth. This sounds so cool! I wanna be able to flip back and forth too, but it didn't work for me.

I found that watching the illusion on this page (http://ofb.net/~whuang/imgs/spin/) helped me do it. Now, I can look at the image in GD's post and do it.

:)

And when I look on this page, they are ALL going clockwise, opposite of what I see in GD's original image. Somethin's wrong wit me. :p

ETA:
I can do it! I can flip her at will! I have no idea why. :) This makes me happy, which also probably makes me a geek, and I don't care.
