I took a trip downtown today to check out the preparations for next weeks inauguration events.

The press is everywhere, here are some of their rooftop lairs overlooking the White House.

Walls, Fences, Security, have also sprung up everywhere. Here is Lafayette park across from the White House.

I love a parade! This is the view people in the parade will have as they approach the presidential reviewing stand.

I stopped for lunch at the Post Office pavilion and went up in the tower you can see in the previous photo. You get a great view from the top.

After lunch I made my way to the National Mall.
THANK GOD!!! They have removed all the fences along the mall making it one huge open swath. Yip! We are going to need every square foot we can get.

This is about as close as John Q. Public is going to get....

Next up, I wandered down to the Lincoln Memorial to check out the setup for the concert tomorrow.

They have built an entire stage on the steps of the memorial.

Part III - Guess The Famous Person(s)
Who dat? Here is a collection of people of note. Are they famous, powerful, none of the above? Who knows....
These people were coming out of the White House

In the spirit of the occasion, shouldn't it be "Big White Houses"?
Great pictures! Thanks!

Cool pix Moonie. I think I may pop by to catch some of the festivities on Tuesday. I predict that the cold will keep most people away.

The parade reviewing stand is very reminiscent of Kennedy's.

Humm, let's put it this way. No.
It's just not going to be that bad. Highs in the 30's with no real chance for precipitation.
I think I may pop by to catch some of the festivities on Tuesday.
If you'er serious about that please drop me a line and we'll see if we can meet up.

Some of us apparently could have gone to the inaugural ball. Others of us said "no" because they thought it would be too "crowded". The some of us that would have been over the moon about going just found out yesterday that said others replied a couple of weeks ago without asking the some who would have said "yes". Plane tickets for said person who would have been over the moon now top $1800. Some of us are now unable to afford to go. :( *
*no kidding...true story...now certain other people are wondering why some of us are not feeling warm and/or fuzzy
