This looks like it could be too much fun to pass up, even though it is a bit pricey.

The 9th is a Wednesday. That makes it pretty much impossible for me unless I wanted to take two days off, which I don't. Too bad.

I wish.
If this were a patch I'd totally want.

I really want the chess set.
I'm not but I'm gifting someone with a ticket for their birthday!

I wasn't super impressed until I saw the chess set and the shoes. Even then, no way I'd be able to spend that much.

Still more interested in the Shag cocktail event.
After about 23 Haunted Mansion merchandise events, I think I would pass even if I did still contain any interest in going to Disneyland. It's time for a Pooh merchandise event.

I'd choose the Shag Cocktail event over this.

I must be jaded. I have almost zero interest in the event or the merchandise. Perhaps I could start getting excited if Disneyland pretended that the merch was secondary to the event...

I have to admit, I would be way more tempted if the event included a walking tour of the mansion (especially ground level in the ballroom) - then I would consider flying over just to do that !!

I suppose that would be cool, although there is a certain amount of the magic you wouldn't want to spoil. The ballroom would have no special effects while you are in it of course, but seeing the other side of the glass where the pepper's ghosts originate would be fun to see.
I have only attended one other merchandise event, the last HMH one. I don't buy the merch really. It's the event I go for. Now the SHAG merch I would like some of..... and some of this evengt looks cool also. But where the heck would I put any of it? Unless my house is gothed out, I'm not gonna just put that cool candle holder on my table....

Never mind.
I tried for an hour and a half to get online, but their servers were having problems. By the time I got online, it was sold out.
That sucks!:(

I'm absolutely amazed that every level sold out in less than 2 hours. One of my friends called me to see if I had any "ins". I was sorry to let him down...
I'm always amazed at how many people are willing to pay for the privilege of shopping.
But then I remember Costco and the card in my wallet so I shut up.
Add me to the disapointed crew, tried for the hotel package on Tuesday and got shut out, tried for the dearly departed, got shut out, tried for hitchhiker and got on the wait list...but I'm not feeling it.

We come out ahead by shopping at Costco even after accounting for the annual fee. That does include the 2% Executive membership rebate and the variable 1-3% AmEx rebate, so I don't know if we'd still come out ahead without the rebates.
We go to Costco so rarely that I believe on about 70% of our trips we have to pay the renewal fee. I'm pretty sure we've never come close to breaking even and I bet that's true for 90% of members.
But damned if I'll be denied the ability to shop there when I decide I absolutely must have 50 granola bars in a single box.

Double
But in reality, for me this wasn't a shopping privilege but an event. I don't buy any of that stuff with the exception of a pin or something as a token of the evening. Even the parting gifts are usually sold on ebay to help recoup the costs of the tickets.
