So the new season of Survivor started last night.

Could be promising - seems like a fairly large percentage of loony people, which always makes for good tv.

A little sad to see the eye candy go before the crazy, but perhaps such disharmony so early will make for an exciting season.

Thoughts?

If you missed it, I think you can catch the full episode here (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/).

Dangit... didn't even know is was going to be on. AND since our Tivo bit it, our TW Cable DVR won't just record it because it doesn't know that since I recorded all over Survivors it should record this one too. (Stupid DVR. I miss our Tivo.)

When they cast older women, they obviously cast older women in fairly good shape. It seems, by and large, that older women in fairly good shape are fairly batsh*t crazy.

I'm not a fan of watching the crazy, so I hope she doesn't last too much longer. It was sad to see eye-candy go, but the best eye candy remains, so it's not all bad.

Regarding "Coach" (I rolled my eyes while typing that), it's a well known fact that it's impossible to rock that ponytail without being a d-bag.

Every time Jeff said the name of the location, it sounded like "Token Cheese".

This season snuck up on me, but I did manage to see it last might.

Choosing to search for the Idol rather than build camp, wtf? This lady is nuts.

I had no idea it was on until my wife found it and DVRed it while I was out. She is a truly great woman.

I never have many comments until I get to know the people a bit better....too many to track....but Sandy is insane. At least she knows it.

The "coach" guy runs the symphony program in my hometown. He used to be the soccer coach too and no idea why he only lives there half the year now but anywho..... I was talking to my 70ish cousin yesterday and she was asking me if I was going to watch. She didn't exactly call him a d-bag but that was her implication.

They were going to watch it and they don't even really watch TV. Our biggest town celebrity before this was Mr. Drucker from Green Acres/Petticoat Junction.

I was glad to see Carolina go. Who in the hell wears cowboy boots when they know running is involved??

Sandy has Tweaker mouth. If she isn't on something, it hasn't been that long since she quit.

I've realized that I like nice boobs until the woman has proven herself annoying and stupid, and then I resent her and her boobs for getting her farther in life than she has any right to get.

And then I find myself missing the boobs after said woman is voted off and I further resent the woman attached to them for being dumb enough to get voted off this early and taking away what is rightfully mine...gratuitous Survivor boobie footage.

Hey, that sounds like a good name for a band.

I cannot believe how stupid that old woman is.

As far as I can tell she spent 3 hours on the first day digging on the wrong beach, looking for the idle. Then, the next day, rather than making friends, she finally found the right beach and dug up the clue, but then couldn't figure out what a pace was.

How can anyone be this stupid.

And....

Even if she had found the idol what then? Play it at the first tribal? Great, so she buys herself a couple of days but admits that rather than build a shelter she spent her time looking for an idol. Doh!

Great first ep-

We were laughing ourselves silly-Carolina was off screen but her boobs were still sticking into the screen-Davis was in open mouthed amazement and amusement.

I also enjoyed the first "vote"- too funny.

Bye bye Coach! Your upcoming cringe inducing rant at final tribal council is a small price to pay for being 100% certain your delusional ass will not win this game. Nutter.

I'm assuming that JT would have gotten the boot if he had not won immunity.

The remaining survivors have to be seeing him as a bit of a problem at this point.

Ghoulish Delight
05-15-2009, 10:25 AM
Strategically, yes. But I guarantee Erin would not have voted JT out before Coach, and Steven is way too much in love with JT to vote him out. At this point he might be next to go, if any of the other three want to actually win instead of coming in 2nd and 3rd, but it'll take a lot of persuasion from Taj and Erin.

scaeagles

Everytime I didn't think coach could get any more insane he just kept getting more insane.

I think they should have an edition of survivor with the most psycho former contestants. Who was the guy who had the rock he was pretending was his blackberry? Get him, coach, a few others....might be fun.

I don't think Steven will vote against JT. I think he and JT plan on going to the final together. Taj and Erin will be trying to pick each other off for the final three.

Cadaverous Pallor
05-15-2009, 10:41 AM
If JT does make it to the final it's going to be a pretty pointless Q&A session. Hopefully Steven won't look like an ass as he tries to say he deserves it more than JT.

Reason #743 why I won't go on this show: If I were Steven I'd be tempted to tell the jury that JT deserves it more than me, and to just vote for him already.

I enjoyed this season more than many prior. The exile alliance added intrigue, and though I hated Coach with a passion it did make it interesting to see what crazy crap he would do each week.

Is it just me or is JT near the top of the list of players, ever? He hasn't made a single mistake and dominated everything he tried. I think there was one challenge where Tyson owned him, but that was it.

scaeagles
05-18-2009, 06:18 AM
The right person won. I was surprised that it was unanimous, though. I thought Erinn would vote for Steven.

I find it amusing - and always do - when various players say things like "It's a game that involves lying and I'll stab anyone in the back I have to" are hurt or shocked or angry when someone does it to them. I liked Taj until she pulled the whole betrayal thing. She was saying she'd do it to anyone she had to, but then gets mad that someone did it to her? I always lose respect for those players.

Ghoulish Delight

Totally.

And Coach, all your phony lie detector results "prove" is that you believe you're telling the truth. Of that I was already convinced. I'm pissed at Jeff for letting him off the hook having flat lied to everyone's face in camp.

So much for Steven, Mr. Yale grad, talking circles around whomever he was against in the final two. The only one he talked circles around was himself. Haven't seen a final jury meltdown like that in a while.

So he really was likeable? Because it sure didn't come off that way in the last two tribal councils-my first exposure to the show this year.

But he'll be fine. It looked like JT might give him the extra 100K as well as his million to embezzle.

I just realized that they didn't ask my favorite question - if Steven would have taken Erinn, who would you have voted for? I think Steven would have won, even if he'd lost a few votes to Erinn because of it.

So he really was likeable? Because it sure didn't come off that way in the last two tribal councils-my first exposure to the show this year. Yeah, he was likable. He was an obvious liar, though it seems no one really called him on that, because of the strength of his alliance with JT, probably. He cracked hard under pressure, which seemed to hurt him at challenges and at tribal.

In short, he was right, he wouldn't have done nearly as well alone. JT would have done just fine. I'm sure he could make an alliance in any tribe. Not so sure about Steven.

He was also a little gullible. I loved when they did the teary walk of remembrance and Steven said that Tyson was a genuine, nice guy. He got snowed. (Tyson was my fav in many ways - funny and calling everyone on their stupidity, if only to the confession cam. I'm all the more pissed at Coach for f'n up his game.)

I think Steve vs. Erinn, Erinn would win. One thing that I think usually happens is when someone has been repeatedly targeted for elimination, as Erinn frequently was, if that person makes it to the final two most people respect that even if they had been targeting that person. I figure she would have won.

I figure she would have won.Taj would certainly have voted for her, and as much as Coach hated her, I think he would have ended up considering the choice to take Erinn as "cowardly" and therefore voted for Erinn instead of Steven. From there, it's just 2 more votes and if Steven hand't already pissed 2 more people on the jury off before final tribal, he likely would have convinced a couple with his final tribal performance.

As for JT vs. Erinn, I guess JT would have won, but I'd have given Erinn a shot there too. Same basic reasons.

I was marveling at JT's endgame last night. For all of his 'likability', he understood how to manipulate each member of the jury. He played Deb's troubled conscious (plotting to vote of Coach) against her, he 'honored' Coach's idea of 'bringing the strongest to the end', even after he got rid of Brendan, Coach and Tyson. Stephen, on the other hand, was completely on the defensive through the entire final council, until he finally cracked and went after JT. I'm not saying that JT's win wasn't a foregone conclusion the moment he won immunity, but it was still fun to watch.
