View Full Version : Bye bye 97.1

97.1 is one of my favorite radio stations. I Adam Corolla in the morning is usually pretty funny... I switch between him and Mark and Brian.

Every day at lunch I listen to Heidi Frosty and Frank. They are my absolute favorite radio show by far and it's them I will miss the most.

On my way home it's either Danny or Tom. Danny Bonaduce sort of bugs me, Tom Leykis has grown on me overtime. Although I frequently disagree with him, I find myself liking him anyway... somehow there's nuggets of wisdom in with the crap.

They supposedly have some of the highest rated shows in town.

So why are they going off the air? To change over to a "top 40" format.

OMFG. I hate the people that made that decision. Stupid stupid people.

Wow, that sucks! I listen to Adam through a station up here. Does that mean his show is no more?!

That's how I felt when KMET switched to The Wave. It sucked big green pickles.

Thank god that takes Leykis off the air for a while. Sadly, that won't shut him up.

I'm sorry Betty, it always sucks when a favorite station goes off the air.

I ended up with XM when KFRG went off the air and no other country station came in well in OC. Now KFRG is back, and XM (with Sirius) is headed to bankruptcy. I can't remember the last time I listened to the actual radio, other than Kevin and Bean when going to work.

FWIW, it doesn't change formats until 5:00 on Friday. You get one more round of Adam Carolla, Danny, etc.

They are also webcasting the final shows (http://www.971freefm.com/) at their web page.

I listen to Adam Carolla on KWOD 106.5. (http://www.kwod.net/Adam-Carolla-Departure/3885001) I don't get very many stations in my car, so I will still listen to KWOD in the morning, but I will miss Adam and Teresa.

Bah! Now I've got to find a new station to insert into car radio.

Currently I've got:

106.7 (kroq)
93.1 (jack)
97.1 (has to go)
95.5 (klos)
98.7 (star)
103.5 (because sometimes I need something mellow and sappy. ;) )

Any suggestions to replace 97.1? I'm out in Corona.

I listen to KCRW and, on occasion, KPPC and that's it. I CANNOT STAND commercial radio. Bugs the living CRAP out of me.

Would you please post the station numbers as well as the call letters? I'd like to check them out.

My radio listening is 99% KQED (Bay Area NPR) and 1% KNBR (Bay Area sports radio).

The 1% come into play when the 99% is doing a pledge drive.

I went through a talk radio phase but I got over it. Now the only time I listen to talk radio is on long road trips when it is often the only thing you can get consistently over any distance.

I mostly listen to KNGY 97.1 FM (Bay Area) in the car and online. I often switch away to XM 81 or 44 during commercial breaks or when out of town. At home, I listen to XM 84 via DirecTV.

I realize that doesn't help answer the original question.

I will on occasion tune into Spanish language radio for the music.

Seriously!
