View Full Version : My wife is having back surgery

I'm posting from St. Joseph Hospital in Orange right now. My wife is having back surgery, discectomy with fusion on L-5 & L-6. She is in surgery at this moment.
Please pray, send healing vibes, or good wishes her way. This is her 3rd surgery, and she has lots of scar tissue and adhesions around her spinal cord that could cause problems. I'm a bit worried. :(
I wonder, is this LoT's first post from a hospital? :D
I posted from Paris, and others have posted from phones, Disneyland, and other places......
Thank you all,
~Bob

Thanks all!
The surgery went well. She is in recovery now, awaiting a room. I'll be seeing her soon. St. Joes is a great hospital, BTW. I love having free computer access...
I'll keep you up to date on her recovery.
Thanks again, you guys are great!

Thanks all!
I'm home now. Teresa is eating and drinking like a trooper, but she can hardly move. This will take some time. She should be home by the end of the week.
I'm tired, so good night. My day started at 4am, and spending the day waiting around in a hospital can zap the energy out of you!
And thanks again for all you well wishes!

Update:
Recovery is taking longer than we thought. She didn't go home yesterday, and in fact will transfer to a physical therapy facility today or tomorrow. After 2 or 3 days there she should be able to go home.
But she continues to get a little better every day.

Thanks for the update! May the return home be joyous and sooner than expected (1 day sooner is all I ask).
Hope the PT goes really well!

Well, yesterday while I was at the trade show at the Anahiem Convention Center I got a call. While she was at the assisted care facility she fell. The care there was less than desirable.
She hit her head so they rushed her to the ER. The CT scan was normal, so I brought her home. She is doing much better than she was in that assisted UNassisted care facility! She's still in pain, but at least she is eating, and moving around better (they didn't even make sure she ate and drank, the Dr.said she was dehydrated). And at least it would appear that there was no harm done to her back.

That's outrageous. Glad she's home and doing better.

I think when they say 'assisted care' they mean assisted by family members, passerby's, etc. Glad she's alright, RS!

Smells like a negligence lawsuit.

I'm glad she's ok and home now. At least you can keep an eye on her now, although I'm sure it's a lot more work for you. Take care of yourself and her. I wish her a speedy recovery!

Thanks everyone! Yes, it's been a lot of work for me, which is why I haven't been around as much....
She is still doing so much better now. She is in quite a bit of pain, but no more than to be expected.
I'm still considering what to do, if anything, about the care from the assisted living piece of you know what....

Wow, I just got caught up here. That is terrible! I'm glad Mrs. RStar is home and under your watchful care and doing better.
I'd sue the b*st*rds, or at least file a complaint with the medical board (or whatever agency)

I'm not sure what Board oversees the facility, but if you can find out, report 'em for negligence.
