Hey or Bonjour whatever lol

I'm flying out to California that day and as Lashbear will be leaving the day after for Australia . I tought it would be a great idea to have a Dinner there .

i'll make the reservation for 7:30pm at Goofy's Kitchen . And this will give you the time to drive and get to Anaheim also will give us time to head back to the parks and watch the fireworks and ride a couple of rides all together .

i'll make the reservation by the end of the week so i need to know how many we'll be here . if you can't make it we can meet after .

i'm pretty sure that if we are a party of 8 or more we'll have to book the table loong time ahead .

Thanks for reading and see you all in California if don't catch you online .

A tentative yes. It may be difficult for me to get to the Park from West LA during Friday night traffic, but I will do my best.

Count me in....not sure about the rest of the Wolfpack, but I'll be there for sure (well I've at least asked for the evening off, have to leave that part to Disney)!

Lab Rat and Pru are in - so two spaces for us, please! I have that Friday off, so I should be able to be at the park all day!

CM and I will definitely be there. Count us as both in. We both requested that whole day off from work and i will be recovering from Bon Jovi in Vegas a week before so i definitely need some downtime at Disney and Goofy's Kitchen since i've never been there. :) Can't wait to see you there and enjoy some dinner and rides and fireworks too :)

Chris and I will be there. We don't have APs so we probably won't be going into the park, but we will be at dinner.

Yay! Put me down for one. :)

Goofy's Kitchen is a fun place! During a previous visit, the characters would use crayons to sign your table top (layered with butcher paper) each time they stopped by.

And Goofy cooked up some interesting desserts, like worms in dirt (chocolate cake filled with gummy worms) and peanut butter-and-jelly pizza.

I'm sorry I can't come play that night.

On the bright side, it's because I'm getting the Honors stuff for my graduation, so it's a happy reason though I will *miss* all of you.

I have a concern - and I know it is late in the game to have this concern, but I'm going to concern away anyways.

I have never been to Goofy's Kitchen. I wasn't aware that is is a prix fixe deal at the tone of $31 per person. I'm not sure that someone would have the option to NOT eat and still have a seat at the table, but I would certainly take that option rather than pay $31 for good that I won't eat. I'm certainly willing to do whatever the group chooses to do, but I wanted to throw my concern out there.

We now have APs so we WILL be joining everyone for Fireworks afterwards.

FYI...

At either of the buffets - Goofy's Kitchen or Miss Minnie and Friends breakfast at the Plaza Inn, where there is no Ala cart menu, you pay to be in the building no matter if you eat or not. In addition be careful in ordering the specialty drinks like bottled waters or foo foo coffee drinks because they are NOT included in the base price and you'll get a bill for them the same as if they were an alcoholic drink.

Miss B has a feeding tube and the only break they give us is to charge us a child price instead of adult even tho she barely drinks a cup of coffee while we eat. According to the Disney Dine CM's it's about the experience not so much about how much food you consume if any at all.

I wonder if it's too late to change venue to somewhere we can get smaller meals that are more inexpensive (ie bowl of gumbo) - after all, it's all about the company, not the food (I think)

Bear in mind folks that this meet was originally the Borneio birthday meet, and that he eats at Goofy's Kitchen for his birthday each year. That's how the location ended up being chosen.

Goofy's has always been a buffet, even when it was over by the Monorail Cafe. I'm not sure how there got to be so much confusion.

I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of characters having to make their way over to the rambunctious LoT table.

We had a group dinner at Ariel's Grotto years ago that was very entertaining.

I think that since Louis had started this and it was kinda in conjunction with Bornieo's bday plans (he does Goofy's every year) that Louis (and Bornieo if he comes around) should offer some input into the decision.

I'm just throwing details out here, I won't be at the meal and I won't be at the fireworks with the group that evening but here are some pretty basic facts to consider for everyone:

The PS is set for 7:30. All character meals have a strict 90 minute window that the CM's do actually 'enforce' to a degree. When you make your PS they are very upfront that it's restricted to 90 minutes. Do the math, if everyone is having a good time 90 minutes will be gone in a heartbeat and the next thing you know it's after 9pm and you are all in the back of the resort with the fireworks scheduled to start at 9:25. Add to that the buzzkill of being asked to leave the restaurant...since you're over the time limit.

For those folks either not inclined to spend the price point for a buffet meal required by Goofys or more interested in seeing Fireworks on their last night in the USofA for who knows how long until their next trip, a 7:30 PS cuts things pretty tight for comfort.

There are so many options available other than an expensive character meal that would allow everyone to congregate earlier and be in place for a fireworks swanking....I'm just saying.

This was indeed started as my birthday gathering from one of the Lashpair threads. I canceled it because, frankly, there's no need to celebrate. I hope you know you are all free to do and/or meet wherever you please. I've had some great birthday's there. Plans change constantly and I have not decided what I'll do. Things change day to day, hour to hour and my main concern would be bringing the swank down. If you haven't done Goofy's Kitchen, its a grand time especially with a group of geeks.

I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of characters having to make their way over to the rambunctious LoT table.

Kids asking for photos and autographs are cute and all, but sometimes the characters themselves may have more fun when approaching a table full of Disney-geekish, fun-seeking, swankishly-hip adults.

Sure, the price may be higher than just a normal meal at the parks, but it is Character Dining, after all. The characters come to you! And the food is all you care to enjoy.

And big thanks for your input, Bornieo. :)

Truth be told, I've had pretty poor service at the Jazz Kitchen. (No, for the umpteenth time, I do not want another drink. Also, you just cleared our dessert plates. No, we do not want to look at the dessert menu again.) Plus, I find it to be just as expensive as Goofy's Kitchen.

I've never had anything but wonderful service at Jazz Kitchen, and if that's the venue, you won't hear any complaints from me :)

Catal is yummy, too.

It seems like there are a few concerns. One is the price point - Catal is way over $35 a person and it doesn't take much to get there at Jazz Kitchen either. Another was people not eating much and it's a buffet, and the final one being people who aren't eating can't come and hang out with the eaters.
