Rockstar Energy Drinks Assault on LGBT Rights and Autism (http://gayrights.change.org/blog/view/rockstar_energy_drinks_assault_on_lgbt_rights_and_ autism)
Yeah, I won't be drinking Rockstar any time soon.
F*ck Michael Savage.

A few facts about Rockstar Energy Drink. It was co-founded by conservative radio host Michael Savage. It's current CEO is Russell Weiner, Michael Savage's son and a co-founder of the "Paul Revere Society" here in the States.
A few facts about Michael Savage. Better yet, here are a few comments directly from the mouth of Michael Savage:
"You want me to tell you what makes me sick? (http://mediamatters.org/countyfair/200904070001) When I see two puffy white males kissing each other, I want to puke. When I see two women kissing each other, on the lips, as lovers, I want to vomit."
"When you hear "human rights," think only one thing (http://mediamatters.org/items/200408050004): someone who wants to rape your son. And you'll get it just right. OK, you got it, right? When you hear "human rights," think only someone who wants to molest your son, and send you to jail if you defend him. Write that down, make a note of it."
"...children's minds are being raped by the homosexual mafia (http://mediamatters.org/items/200806180005?f=h_latest), that's my position. They're raping our children's minds."
"You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is. (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-michael-savage-autism-080721-ht,0,7335653.story) In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is."Disgusting, right? Michael Savage is reaping profits from the selling of Rockstar Energy Drink.
How about some facts about Savage's son, Russell Weiner?
Fact #1 (http://archive.salon.com/news/feature/2004/05/20/savage/print.html): At a Rockstar-sponsored concert at Concord Pavillion in 2004, Russell Weiner warmed up the crowd by chanting "Who's heterosexual and proud? If you're not, hopefully you will be soon."
Fact #2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Weiner): Russell Weiner co-founded the conservative Paul Revere Society (with his father). In 2006, the organization had its tax-exempt status revoked.
Fact #3 (http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=8&threadID=164563&start=0): Among the positions championed by the Paul Revere Society, and presumably by Russell Weiner? (1) Support for traditional marriage only; (2) deportation of all illegal immigrants; (3) eliminating bilingual education in all states; (4) requiring health tests for all foreign born people; (5) ending affirmative action; (6) closing off the borders; and (7) make tax cuts permanent and end class action lawsuits.Russell Weiner, as CEO of Rockstar, makes a boatload of money off the beverage.
Do you like your money going to a family that champions hate? Do you want your money going to a man who says that autism is a made up disease? To a man who says that all LGBT people are sodomites who deserve to get AIDS? (http://www.thetruthaboutrockstar.com/michael-savage.html)
If the answer is no, then don't buy Rockstar Energy Drink. And if you see a club - especially an LGBT club - serving it, please say something to the management.

I will continue not drinking it--or any of its competitors. The whole lot of them seem to play to hopped up yahoos.

The small, mean part of me wants a few people to get ill- not dangerously so, but just enough to warrant a lawsuit that will wipe these mofos out monetarily. What pigs.

I thought this was general knowledge.

But pretty much irrelevant to me since I've never in my life consumed an energy drink beyond the generally recognized long-standing soda labels (never even consumed a cup of coffee).

I was unaware that Michael Savage was somehow involved with this. (Not on the net as much as some of you are)

You can definitely count on me to boycott this brand. Savage is certified Nut-Case!

I did not know.

I'm sickened, because I have found Rockstar to keep me awake better than Red Bull in the past, when making the drive south. I think I have one can in my refrigerator right now, waiting for my next long drive. Ugh.

Michael Savage is someone I have long despised. Hate is a strong word for me, but I have truly hated that man for years. He is a despicable pig. The sound of his voice, so smug and arrogant, spewing his vitriolic crap -- makes my skin crawl.

I had no idea. I'll be pulling these off the shelves in my store tomorrow.

I never drank the stuff myself. And I never will.
Considering how vile Savage is towards the LGBT community, it makes me wonder if he has any pink skeletons in his closet...

I wish I never had. I feel as if I drank poison, like my mom's cat.

I loathed Michael Savage before. I didn't think I could abhor him more, but I was wrong. He is such a poor excuse for a human being.

There are stories that he was once friends with Allen Ginsburg (true) and while not necessarily intimate engaged in behavior that would not meet with Savages standards now (Savage contests this part, saying letters in the Ginsburg archive are fake).

He was an active part of the North Beach scene until the early '80s. So even if he did nothing at all himself he was certainly tolerant of it.

Ugh, me too as for how it keeps me awake. It also makes for some tasty mixed drinks (Cactus Coolers, anyone?)... And like your other comment, I now feel as though I've drank poison.

Michael Savage is disgusting and gives a bad name to the good conservatives out there, many of whom we know and love right here on the boards.

GC, I'm sure there are lots of LGBT clubs out there who have been unknowingly serving up the stuff. Maybe getting the word out will help get it off the shelves sooner rather than later.

That will probably end later this year when Rockstar's distribution agreement switches from Coke to Pepsi.

I had no idea. Bummer; Rockstar was the one without high fructose corn syrup.

Won't be buying it any more, that's for sure.

I also have never tried an energy drink (Ok once - a Redbull & Vodka shot), but I saw someone drinking one today on the Shuttle and was curious and was going to give it a try. Not now, I'll pass.

I will be pulling them from Gn2Dlnd's shelves, too. As well as a couple of frozen burritos and some Sun chips, which I have heard some disagreeable things about.

Just noticed that one of my fav sandwich shops carries this stuff. They know me and they seem like nice people. I printed out a flyer from the website to bring in. I'm hoping they're sympathetic.

Newsom to Savage's Son: Keep Your $25K

California gubernatorial candidate and marriage equality supporter Gavin Newsom has kicked a $25,000 donation back to the son of conservative radio show host Michael Savage.
Russell Weiner is the CEO of Rockstar Energy Drinks which, according to San Francisco activist Aaron Baldwin (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=40574), is a family business. He says documents show Savage’s wife -- Janet Weiner; Savage’s real name is Michael Weiner -- serves as the chief financial officer for both Rockstar and Savage Productions.
Baldwin urged the Newsom campaign to reject to donation earlier this month. Savage, known for his homophobic radio rants, appeared on a list of 16 people barred from entering the United Kingdom. The “name and shame” list also included antigay pastor Fred Phelps.
