It's payoff time, and since the Washington Capitols are currently the only sports franchise in the city that doesn't suck, they get a thread about them:
GO CAPS!
Of course we all know where BTD's loyalties lie (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=273677&postcount=14) but are there any other NHL fans out there in LoT land?

I believe she's a Sharks fan.

Har har har. Oh the irony of the Ducks playing the Sharks in the first round of the playoffs.
When I made that call the Sharks were on fire and the Ducks didn't even look like they were going to make the playoffs. The Sharks are still on fire, but the pressure they are under after being the division leader and Presidents Trophy winner is immense. And the Ducks did a 180 with their play after the trade deadline. It's going to be an interesting series; especially after the last game against SJ.
GO DUCKS GO!
Do I have false memories of BTD rooting for the Ducks a few years back or is she a front-runner?
On the off chance you were serious, I am a huge Ducks fan - have a season seat and everything. No band-wagoning here.
I am so excited that someone else started an NHL thread!

Yeah, I thought you were a Ducks fan, BTD. Your post about the Sharks confused me, is all.
When I made that call the Sharks were on fire and the Ducks didn't even look like they were going to make the playoffs. That makes sense.
Go Sharks!

I used to be an avid hockey fan, but in the business of life it is something that has fallen by the wayside of the day to day.
I do think hockey players are studs and tremendous athletes.

Hockey's a great game to watch.
However . . . it is the only major sport where the participants occasionally get arrested. If we play the "What if they were black?" game, I imagine many would have a different view of its fisticuffian culture, use of terms like "enforcer," slovenly playoff beards and superstitious refusal to touch the Cup.

Yea! It looks like the caps get a new goalie for Saturday. We have a yound stud goalie that's been stuck in the minors but since we can expand the roster for the playoffs.....
Be afraid. Be very afraid. If you're the Rangers that is.

I only root for Northern California hockey teams endorsed by Ralph Barbieri. Also, I've never heard of the Golden Seals. They sound like a lovely group of lads.

So they just mentioned on the Comcast telecast that this series is the first playoff meeting of California teams since the Golden Seals lost to the LA Kings in 7 games in 1969. So naturally I turned to Google to learn more of this team I've known about for 2 hours. It seems Charlie O Finley bought the team in 1970 (Oh how awesome Oakland sports in the early '70s must have been!). In 1976 they were sold off and moved to Ohio and became the Cleveland Barons, which were later folded into the Minnesota North Stars. They are now the Dallas Stars.
Oh, those Golden Seals.

Vendor just called and I scored two tickets to tonight's Ducks game - Club Access level. I have no idea what that means, but free tickets are almost always good seats.
Will still probably end up spending $50 for parking and food, but what the heck.

The Sharks have to get back to playing their brand of hockey.
What got them here in the first place.
Can't let the Ducks set the pace and dictate the outcome.
Gotta score early and take the crowd out of the game.
