Alright, the jig is up. No, Kevy did not upload any inappropriate avatars. No, there was nothing deleted. And no, no one hacked anything. Some observant folks were aware of the date from the beginning (and thank you muchly for keeping quiet for our entertainment's sake). Many figured it out or were told through the day, and joined in on the fun (Kevy, MickeyLumbo) and we thank all of you for your good humor. Others it seems remained in the dark until the bitter end. Even most of The Establishment was unaware (and some until the end). :D

So, things will shortly be returning to normal, hang tight. I'm a little exhausted, I was up at 5 to get the ball moving, and have been on the go to keep the story straight as it spread. I'm sure people will fill you all in with all of the little changes that were made (I bet you didn't notice at least one or two), and maybe even some of our rejected ideas and ideas that would have been fun, but more technical work than we wanted.

Hopefully we ammused more than we pissed off. If not, sorry, all in good fun.

No, not more amused that pissed off. I guess you picked some pretty good accomplices, in that I completely believed and continue to believe that Kevy and Scott are completely capable of such mean-spirited bull$hit that is only funny to themselves.

Oh, and I guess it's funny to a certain admin around here, too.

Well, have yourself a big chuckle, GD. Fragile-trucelike quasi-friendships have been ended. I think your prank was a bit too extreme.

Oh, and not having a sense of humor is something I've rarely been accused of.

I completely believed and continue to believe that Kevy are completely capable of such mean-spirited bull$hit that is only funny to themselves. If you believe that I have the first clue as to how to hack a board, you give me WAY more credit than I deserve. I woke up this morning to find myself *actually* banned. I was able to figure things out right away.

I hope that soon you are able to get a laugh out of this and know that it was all in fun (which is what LoT is all about).

My bullshyte radar is alway working on 4/1, so as soon as I saw the email in my inbox this morning, I figured it was going to be Fool Central in the LoT.

Mostly I was amused. I was a little surprised to see that I was engaged. I suspect Tom is even more surprised. Lot of editing going on there.

Oy, so many of my boards were up to this today -- and I refuse to play that second-grade game, so I avoided them. But here, I actually believed, and just tried to work around it. Feh. I'm of the school that 4/1 stuff should be funny, not annoying (as I posted on another board) and should NOT escalate into upsetting folks without being called, as I saw here (I think it was called too late, frankly). I'm disappointed. But I'll get over it. Tomorrow I'm going to have some geeky fun and forget all about April Fool's Day. Huzzah!

I appologize profusely to anyone who was offended. That was far from the intent of anyone involved. Honestly, the whole scenario seemed so outlandish to me that I thought it would be seen through almost instantly. I guess I'm better at wending a believable tale than I thought. And when it took on a life of its own (the hacking sub-plot was something I did not forsee), it was difficult for me to pull the plug.

I can see that I let things go on to long. And specifically for certain people for who only got the story, and the conclusion, sparsely through the day. I saw so many people go through the whole thing quickly, figure it out quickly, and be highly amused, that I didn't stop to think that stewing on it all day wouldn't be so amusing.

And lest anyone think this was a grand conspiracy against them, there were merely 3 people involved in the planning and execution (well, 3 in planning, 2 in execution, and 1 in the bulk of the execution). This was not designed to enrage anyone in particular.

Besides, would you have rather we used plan C (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/gdiddy/owmyeyes.jpg)??

I wasn't offended (because I was too busy being confused to really participate), and I'll forget about all this soon enough....but I think others actually got seriously messed with today. That's all that concerns me. I think LoT is the best....and I rather like Plan C, because I'm wrong that way. :)

Whew! 260 new posts - for a messed up day on the boards, I sure have some catching up to do. I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow to figure out who's really angry, and who's still April fooling. Some of you will have to share your stories later with me.

Welcome back LoT - and GD, perhaps by tomorrow I can clear out that evil version of the boards from my cache - it hurts.

Happy April Fool's Day everyone!

I just got home from work and couldn't wait to see what had transpired during the day. I think it was funny, but I am twisted that way. KB and Mickey are the only ones who really have anything to complain about, and KB has been quite a good sport. Feh, I'm ambivalent about the whole April one deal. I'll go along with a gag but they usually don't hold my interest. And I often see hurt feelings come out of these prank type things. Nobody likes to be punk'd, whether it's intentional or not. But all things considered, I prefer having friends with a taste for mischief and merriment.

I hope nobody was spooked by the editing of posts, though. A one-time deal to be sure. We know this ain't that kind of place, dig?

I'll weigh in here -- I actually think this was in very poor taste. Some of us aren't really part of the infamous "clique" and aren't really in a position to find someone's alleged behavior so preposterous as to be clearly a joke. i don't know the people involved this morning, and for all I know they did slip a cog. I'll be honest -- I was pretty sure that it was a joke, but at the same time I thought it was beneath y'all and so I was't totally convinced.

Oh, and editing people's posts is so not okay by me. Once I knew that was going on, I didn't dare post anything. I'd written up something this morning for the "Inspiration" thread and everything, but frankly I no longer trust "the establishment" with my feelings. Now that I know you'll do that, I don't know that I dare post anything.

Except this, to tell you that I'm pretty freakin' pissed.

I've played many a mighty prank in my time. But hopefully I never exploited others in the process.

I'm sure that you're safe to post now. I doubt that post-editing was anything more than an April Fools thing and it won't happen again. Even though the joke itself wasn't very funny, the people behind these boards are classier than that (arbitrary post editing.)

Eliza Hodgkins 1812

I knew from the moment I got the e-mail in my inbox about the avatars, etc., that it was an April Fools thing. I mean, it's April Fools. I don't see why anyone should trust anything anyone says on this particular day. If the usual or unusual antics of this particular day are that bothersome to people, I think they can limit themselves to exposure. Sure, you might not be able to avoid work, but most workplaces aren't like the BBC's The Office (unfortunately; I'd certainly love someone to give me a giant inflatable **** for my birthday), so they'll be fewer pranksters and tricksters working their bad or good mojo. I approached every website I went to today with caution. I avoided the news altogether for fear of being duped. If I wasn't 100% certain that what went down on LoT today was a prank, I would have avoided the site until tomorrow.

I can understand people getting upset over a joke they didn't find amusing, but it's the day for this kind of behavior. It says so on my calendar so I participate like the mindless sheep that I am.

Plus, I have no problem with a joke at my expense. If I have to be the butt of something, better to be the butt of a joke than the butt of SATAN!

My favorite April Fools scam was an evening news special that discussed the real possibility of the Major Leagues switching from wooden to metal bats. "Dad, come here. You have to see this!"

My father sputtering, "They can't....they just can't...this will....it will ruin the game!"

"I know!"

APRIL FOOLS!

Man, we were fooled. And had a chuckle.

So, I sympathize with those who were upset by this to some degree. Hopefully you'll get over it soon. I don't think it should reflect negatively on the people who participated. Not everyone has the same kind of sense of humor, and these are good people. I don't think it's in their nature to want to cause real harm or damage to people they enjoy playing with, and most of us who post at LoT are here because our company was requested.

My 2 cents...

I signed on this AM to see ML and STCs exchange and I was very worried about ML. Inappropriate avatars by Kevy isn't a surprise to me ;) And I thought SnappyJo had actually hacked into us (given fairly recent hackings of other disney sites).

I was really irked at first (not at anyone in particular, just the tastelessness of the joke and because I was so flippin worried about ML) but decided to get into character while still being irked by posting after I was over it and then moving on. I think it was an extremely tasteless joke that went on way too long. I realize that no harm was meant, but with a group of this nature (that has imploded in the past) with how we are all involved in each others lives, messing with emotions like that just isn't cool. Not to mention leaving all those who have yet to develop offline friendships with most of those involved out in the cold.

I also think the editing of the posts was over the top, completely unnecessary, out of control and a blatant abuse of power. I don't know if I can trust my posts to remain unedited in the future. I just hope that no permanent damage has been done to the community because of this "joke".

I give it an A for effort and a F in mojo. And also some thanks as I was able to pull my own April Fools on Erica.

As one of the Admins/Mods who were editing posts, I can assure you that it will not be a regular occurance unless warranted.

I think one thing that was happening in the AM (ie: before I got my fat ass out of bed) was that people were getting PMs explaining what was going on and to please keep quiet. Now, I did not do that (except on one occasion) and wasn't aware that was being done in the AM. Like I said earlier, I had to figure it out for myself what was going on and then I decided to play along. (How my husband can be in on planning this while he sits right next to me I'll never know. Maybe the new screen name Fej and GD were going to give me IS appropriate - Not Aware).

Anyways, if people are pissed about the post editing and not knowing what was going on, it is probably 90% my fault you are pissed. I'm so sorry! I was rolling with it just like everyone else and having my own brand of fun. This type of editing is NOT a regular thing - and that's NOT an April Fools joke!

I really should keep my mouth shut (or my fingers still) since the more I dwell on this the angrier I become.

In any group/organization/whathaveyou there will be groups that gel more cohesively within the whole -- the clique issue. It's naive to think otherwise. Not all of us get to go to meets, attend cultural functions en masse, etc. And that's life.

What's not cool is pointing it out to those on the periphery. And that's what today felt like to me. Guess what Leanne?! You're not part of the club! We are having a great joke that doesn't make sense to you because you don't hang with us and we're doing it out in public and we're going to drag it out so that you can appreciate how cool we are.

Of course I don't think anyone did this with any "malice aforethought." Regardless, my feelings were hurt. I'm glad that apparently most everyone else thought it was cool and funny. But my feelings were hurt.

And no, this is not a major incident that will be marked in my memoirs as a dark chapter in the life of whomever I turn out to be. But I looked on the LoT as a little sanctuary in the midst of a stressful point in my life and, like peeling paint on Main Street, a little of the magic's now gone.

So today's little excursion was great fun for many. Bully for you. I got reminded that I'm on the outside looking in. Wasn't so much fun for me. Not really your problem, I know. I'll go back to my busy evening of Pope Watch 2005.

I admire your sense of humor and ability to roll with it, and I'm sorry for the crap that got laid on you. First thing, people- it's April 1st, and I think if you don't like this sort of thing, well then don't participate! Geez! GD and all work really hard to make this an enjoyable place for all to hang out at. They were just playing, and they weren't the only ones. Lots of websites did this sort of stuff today, or posted phoney articles, etc. I am really surprised at the attitudes of some of todays posters- and disappointed as well. She doesn't really matter. After all, everyone's doing it and that makes it okay. Go ahead and be disappointed in me. Prudence, you were not the only one who didn't "get" that this was a joke. It took me a few minutes and I'm about as close to the "inside" as you can get. But, there were a few people firmly in the FtF group that didn't get it either. You are not alone and you are definately part of the LoT "clique" - just the fact that you were invited here confirms that.

You can feel put out if you want to. I'd rather you didn't because I value your participation and I've "known" you for too long. But, whatever your feelings, you can express them freely on this board - always.

A quick check in before I go to bed:

I was laughing all day even though i was on the golf course. Just knowing this was going on made me smile. GD and I, (GD did most of the work) just came up with this 2 days ago. With Euros blessing, we had many ideas, and brought you some of them Tomorrow we will list all we did, and all we were going to do, and the stuff we thought of that was too mean to do.

To all that enjoyed our April Fool, Your Welcome.
To those who thought we were picking on them or were mad because they got duped for a little or long while:
yes, yes we were.
But it was all in fun.
As for the post editing, the only things that were edited were the references to the joke, and due to a miscommunication, NA wasnt aware thaat we were planning on sending emails to those people who we edited explaining why.

Thanks to Kevy (and ML, though I never saw that cause I was away) for playing along.

Bottom line, its April Fool's Day, and it's just a website. Lighten up and roll with the swank.

For what's it's worth...

I just checked out of the hospital this morning. I had to check in yesterday afternoon because of soaring blood pressure. I suspected all this was April Fool's foolishness and rolled with it for a while. But Mickey Lumbo's anger was just a little too real to chalk up to that. And as I've become quite attached to Sac, I found that exchange most upsetting. And the longer I thought about it, the more upset I became. As to NA's editting of posts, I was sure that was someone hacking into her account. I wasn't ready to believe that was actually her doing that.

Yes, I am a little "crunchy" about the whole thing, as much with myself for letting it get to me as with anyone else involved, but I never hold a grudge too long. The only reason I even mention any of this is because people sometimes don't realize just how upsetting something like that can be.

But good came of it. I found that my blood pressure needs to be controlled, and now we're working toward that. And I have a new toy... this nifty automatic blood pressure cuff that I can't wait to start playing with. And my new cardiologist is HOT!!!!

I'm over it. I hope everybody else can reach that same place very soon.

Now... back to the fun!

Did anyone see the Simpsons episode where Grampa was a greeter? He got hurt (or something) and exclaimed, "This place would go to hell in a handbasket without me!" So Homer took over, but of course slacked off, and people were walking into walls and terribly confused. It was much funnier than I'm describing.

Was InnerSpaceman's post on page one an April fool's thing? Or is he seriously that pissed off?

I can sort of understand why some people were upset, but not to the degree they took it. This might get me some bad mojo, but come on people. Let's take our underwear out of our butts and learn to laugh at ourselves.

If anyone should be pissed, it's me.

The whole day before I was telling myself that tomorrow was April Fools and that I always get fooled because I'm so damn gullible. But how am I supposed to remember that when I'm dragged out of bed and shoved into the situation?

GD calls me at 9:07am Friday morning. I was on Spring Break, and had been intending to get up at 9...but of course I had hit the snooze, so he woke me up.

"Have you seen the bad news at the board?"
"Um, no. Can you just tell me or do I have to go see it?"
<pause>
"....I think you should see this for yourself."

Half asleep, I boot up and see the main page, with the Disneyland word replacement. I try to look at stuff but the board is running way slow. I hit new posts and see the members list, but then things stop loading. I log onto IM.

"Did we get hacked?"
<pause>
"....It would seem so. Did you hit new posts?"
"Yeah, it goes to the members list. The board is down. What's going on??"
<pause>
".....Someone got banned."
"Who?"
"Go to the Parking LoT."
"I CAN'T. WILL YOU JUST TELL ME WHAT THE FVCK IS HAPPENING?"

He explained things to me and all I could think was "why would Chris delete the thread and get rid of the information? And he would suspend Kevy, not ban him. We don't do those things. And Kevy couldn't hack us, could he?"

I was beginning to resign myself to the situation when GD told me it was a joke. Grr.

But as soon as I got over my annoyance I found it funny. The only reason the joke went on so long was because GD wanted everyone to have an opportunity to get fooled.

Prudence, they told NOBODY until they were fooled, including me. This has nothing to do with being cliquish.

Besides, why do people get so angry? Nothing was harmed here. If people were pissed at Kevy and Scott it means that the joke went well. Both of them have a good sense of humor about these things. Everything is back to normal, so shouldn't everyone be GLAD that it was a joke and not a real situation?

I'm sure that those that were fooled are a bit embarrassed, especially those that posted in anger. They pulled one on you, neener neener. So what? You're human. Time to laugh at yourself for being had, or at least let it go. That's what I'm doing.

I guess it's good to know that people care so much about our board and the people in this group.

My April 1st score card was fairly dismal...

I did not even notice the buttons had been switched, I have a bookmark that takes me directly to the new posts page.

I also failed to notice that the avatars were missing until late in the day. Doh!

I did not buy into the whole kevy thing and was censored by the man for posting vague references (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=20142&postcount=3) to the issue. In fact it took three PM's before I finally figured out what/why/who had been edited for me. The original post had one more line: An April fools joke?

My one attempt at joining the days levity (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=20207&postcount=18) apparently went over like a lead baloon. No comments or replys, it was just flat out ignored..

I also pooh-poohed the whole MiceChat hack thread (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showthread.php?t=945) as a very weak attempt to imitate what was being staged here. Of course that turned out to be the one true story of the day.

So I am giving my official notice. I'll be sick next April 1st with a very bad headache and won't be able to visit. I'll send in a doctor’s note if you like.

Well played one and all.

Personally, I would hope that this does happen, but happen via PM. I think it is time for everyone to forgive and forget and move on and the boards return the their swankiness.

I think it is so funny that neither CP or I knew about this in advance. I mean, we're both married to Admins (I'm married to all three!;)). I sit next to Chris in our office, I talk to Fej daily - and GD almost as much; and, I am an Admin myself (obviously the forgotten one :p ). I think I was hurt that the guys didn't tell me - for about 6 minutes. I got over it. I see why they kept it with a few people as possible. This prank STILL makes me laugh.

Yeah, well, the thing is I did mean those things. Those are things I would not have said in polite company had I not been punk'd like I fell off the turnip truck just yesterday.

I will be glad if GD's jaw is feeling better today, but I will also admit my immaturity in relishing his pain for a while yesterday.

Once I found out it was a joke, I was monumentally pissed ... for all of five minutes. Then I laughed and laughed and laughed, and could not help but admire the diabolical genius of the plot.

It turned out, though, that the plot was not as genius-inspired as I was at first led to believe, and that far too many consequences were unintended and negligently unanticipated.

By hacking the boards themselves, putting out a phoney story that Scott and Kevy had been banned, and then letting the two of them post maniacally all day - the plotters in effect fingered the two saps for hacking the boards. This was, imo, not a cool thing to do to any of our members. Especially if you're not going to let one particularly hot-tempered moderator in on the "joke."

I love mischief and I live for humour, but I've seen way too many pranks in my day go too far or have unintended bad results. In this case, in defense of the message board that I have a duty to moderate, I went off on two members who had been set up to take the fall -- and I said things that are true in my heart, but that I would never have said to either of them had I not perceived an attack on this message board and on the friends who would have to toil to fix any real hack. Needless to say, I feel a bit betrayed by those who would have to toil to fix any real hack. I appreciate the joke, but it's the last time I will come to the defense of any above-and-beyond work they have to do around here.

And yeah, now it's out in the open that I really don't like Kevin, and that I think Scott is a little too mentally unbalanced for my tastes. I find it completely believable that Scott would freak out about SacTown and go on a madness binge, and that Kevy would be an asshole of the 9th degree. I could have gone on indefinitely being tactful and civil to them in the social circles we all share, but that's over now. Feelings have been hurt, and I take real offense at the April Fool's plot that, funny as it was, went way too far (imo).

Damn, I guess I missed all the fun. From my point of view, not having been around on the 1st, just having read a recap, I don't get what everyone is so hacked off about. Oh well.

I did get to indulge in my evil streak though. It just so happened that we were returning a day early from our mission trip on the 1st (due to impossibly high winds), so I told each teen to call their parents and pretend that the reason they had to pick them up early is because they were caught in a tent with a member of the opposite sex.

I swear this is the last time I'm going to comment on this issue. And, gosh, I hope this comes out the right way.

I thought the buttons were funny. Ha! FAQ goes to MP! I thought the word replaces were funny. And if the day had been full of sly tricks like this (a color scheme that changes hourly! random avatar swapping!) it would have been molto groovy.

The part that wasn't cool, for me, involved spoofing on interpersonal relationships. This *feels* like a community sometimes. And many people are local and see one another somewhat regularly. But for some of us it's all just a bunch of pixels.

And it's dangerous. To make a courtroom analogy (because let's face it, that's all I have any more): You've all seen courtroom dramas where the attorney asks a question, opposing counsel objects, and the objection is sustained. The jury is supposed to disregard the question, but, as they say, you can't unring the bell.

And even more damaging is as mentioned above: when people say things they wouldn't otherwise have said and reveal interpersonal relationship bits that *are* true, but that perhaps they would have rather not have been public knowledge. And that's what made me most upset. Not the initial joke (I do have a calendar and I am the champion foole at work), but the fact that as it unraveled I wasn't sure who was saying things in character and who was really angry. That's the part that left me confused. And concerned. And ultimately fairly angry myself.

And while I know y'all would never do this -- believe me, I do know this -- it started to take on a mean-spirited form, as if the goal was to get people to make disparaging comments about specific people that they wouldn't have otherwise said. In otherwords, strip away the little white lies we use to grease the social wheels. And while it makes for an interesting sociology experiment, it's not necessarily the nicest way to treat others.

If life were to grant us all a do-over, I respectfully suggest that further such episodes eliminate the interpersonal flavor. For example, Eliza's post was fabulous. Maybe someone could have inherited a mink farm from their uncle back in NC and they have to leave to go attend to it. (Hey, we used this one at work the day everyone "quit" and this was NOT the explanation that made our chairperson suspicious!) Heck, I don't even have a problem with the idea that the board was hacked. I only object to interfering with interpersonal relationships in a way that wasn't necessarily positive.

Which is a version of what I was trying to say earlier, but was too mad to do properly.

And now I'm off to do something much more important.

Like post what song is in my head.

Admit it. Now you want to know.

Just thought I'd let you know. Excellent post. As someone who wasn't online from 3/31 until yesterday, I gotta say I'm a bit surprised by what went on, and I can't read half of it, because MickeyLumbo's posts are gone.

People can't help how they feel about a situation and I can't say how I would have reacted had I been online. Most likely I would have just taken another break from the boards instead of posting. Or not. Perhaps I would have been upset or angry or confused or amused. I'm not sure.

Carry on. Heal thyselves and thine community.

Unbelievable.

I find it completely believable that Scott would freak out about SacTown and go on a madness binge, and that Kevy would be an asshole of the 9th degree. My short answer to this is, "So?"

Everyone on here knows that Scott has had problems in the past. We all saw his "freak out" a while ago on Fab. Since then he has done plenty of joking about it. Hello, "LickeyLumbo" came out of that! Kevy has a reputation for being a troublemaker - and he loves it. He does his best to cause mischief, and we all know that. Announcing to everyone that it's believable that Scott could freak out or that Kevy could be an asshole is a big deal? That's like accusing me of being long-winded. We all have our personas that we each know incredibly well.

You know, Greg really thought that you said that you were no longer friends with him. I said to him "I'll bet you anything he was pissed at the moment, but by the time we see him again, he'll pretend to attack you and call you a jerk with a grin on his face, then give you a hug and laugh about it." And that's EXACTLY what happened on Sunday. We all know each other well enough to call things for what they are.

It's as if everything we've done here was ignored. As if all of the obvious care and love we put into this place was completely forgotten in the face of one obviously odd instance.

While I think mountain :: molehill of the situation, I can see how things could be misconstrued. Remember that while you (and I, and many of the people on here) know the intricacies of many posters' personalities, whims, moods, tendencies... there are some here who don't. There are some who've never met each other. Some who don't get to spend significant time with the others. Small community though this may be, it is not completely private, it includes more than one clique, and it is more disparate in poster familiarity than you might remember.

I know that care and love was put into LoT. Remember, though, that care and love was put into every other community in which we participated-- just not by you and yours. And dischord harmed those, despite it.

I've seen a lot of people in a lot of different online communities be less than kind to each other. I've seen people act with malicious intent. I've seen things like that which was suggested on Friday actually happen. Things like Prudence suggested, too. I've seen the law enter into it, folks. It ain't pretty.

My point here is as such: this is a lovely little community, but it is not immune to crisis. Of course none of these people harmed anyone. And if you know them, you know that. But what if you didn't know them? Wouldn't you think that this little corner of cyberspace was just as susceptible to manufactured drama as any other? It's not unfathomable in those terms.

(I tried to send this earlier but the board broke. I should probably take that as a sign, but I won't.)

Ooh. That didn't come out exactly right then. I meant something more like "if this had been done by anyone other than the people who did it, who I know would never have intended something like this, it would have looked that way." Is that clearer? I don't think anyone meant to do anything even slightly hurtful. Just one of those things that in the wrong hands could go totally horribly awry.

Prudence and LSPE said it so well.

While it was a joke, the fact of the matter is it could have been very real. To think that this board is less vulnerable to a recurrence of events from the past because it's *exclusive* is silly. As it is there were quite a few unintentional results that were unfunny. Things were said out of anger. Feelings were hurt. This whole event could have been very real.

I'm glad that most of the people on here found it humorous. But I find the dismissive attitude of lighten up get over it and move on it was just an April Fools joke quite insulting. I find nothing funny about playing with peoples emotions and I hope that the damage (while little) that was done can be healed instead of creating a divide.

I think we should just take GD, UG42 and € out back and shoot 'em.

Nah. Then what would I do for sex?

The fact that I didn't want to shoot UG42 and € in the nuts and then pound their faces into pulp after sitting through 2 hours of 'Sin City' with them must mean that all is forgiven. By the end of the film, I was even feeling bad about GD's tooth.

Gush, gush, I love all you guys, and of course forgive this little prank. (But it might be best to never quite forget this incident and how far I can and cannot safely be pushed.)

Yeah, well, the thing is I did mean those things. Those are things I would not have said in polite company had I not been punk'd like I fell off the turnip truck just yesterday.

Thanks for your honesty. Although I don't agree with your opinions of Scott and Kevy, at least now I don't have to wonder what was part of a joke and what wasn't.

Can I say that I liked the funny Ism better? The angry Ism is a scary thing. I sort of wish that the kind of meanness you posted had never made it onto the boards. I don't know Kevy or Scott very well, honestly. It just makes me a little sad that feelings were hurt. (Even though I know I'm guilty of being mean as much as anyone is.) It's a total flaw of mine that I desperately want everyone to get along.

To all that were upset, I'm sorry if I trivialized your feelings. You all have every right to feel whatever way you do. I'm sure that as a community we can grow from this. At the very least we'll all be on our toes a year from now.

Hitachi Magic Wand?

But seriously, I think it's obvious all didn't turn out as anticipated. As much as we'd like to claim to have created a message board utopia we realize it was made by a similar set of flawed human beings. That said, we'll take your input here as some lessons learned, so hopefully as we move forward we'll do things a little better. Nope, can't unring a bell, undo the past, etc., but we can still move forward and that's what I intend to do.

I'd like to nominate Prudence for the “LoT Post Pulitzer” for this thread.

Any seconds? Anyone?

I really feel that she did a magnificent job of summing up the feelings of a lot of us out here who can't attend DL together every Sunday, don't hang out drinking martinis together, and don't shop at the same Sephora. Sure, we all love this place and the family we’ve established here, but some of us just aren't as privy as others to the inner dynamics functioning within the core of posters who created these boards. As unbelievable as some of the things brought up here may be to those of you in the LoT inner-sanctum, those of us out here could very well be led into believing that the group could melt down and close friendships could be thrown aside in anger. Let's face it, one thing that a lot of us here have in common is a fiery personality, or at least one that can get fiery if prodded. To believe that any of our personalities or relationships are invulnerable to flaring up at any time, and at anyone, is a little bit naive. As swanky as we are, we're still just people.

Like Prudence said, some features were devilish and funny, but others were a little too extreme. I’d be all for a repeat next year though. With the lessons learned this year, and the creativity flowing freely through many of the people here, I’m sure that the mother of all pranks can be concocted.... in a happy way.

:)

Just thought I'd bring that up to even the keel.

Sorry about the confusion cats. We were all hopped up trying to do the right thing now to make up for messing up some of your grooves on the first that we weren't listening to each other's riff's. So we took five, got ourselves cool and decided that we didn't need to go square on you since you've mostly been pretty cool here yourself.

I don't think anyone is really too concerned about the man getting big brother on us. I'm glad you guys decided to open it back up. :snap:

So, do we all have a pretty good idea of why people got so pissed off at Orson Wells back in 1939? Our very own Grover's Corners here on the LoT. I acknowledge the confusion and concern, and applaud the theatre. :snap:
