We buy a lot of music. I know others discover hip stuff on a regular basis. So, share the wealth here. What's the latest hep tunes you have on your player?
For me, it's been Keane
Sort of reminiscent of Coldplay and U2. I knew a few of you would really dig it.

My brother just bought the CD and is burning it for me as we speak. They have no guitarist... and I like that. I love the piano and look forward to listening to this CD. Thanks NA! You and your hubby are the swankiest music hipsters!

Oooh, I love Keane! They played here in November and my sister and I went to see them out of curiosity. They have a huge following here, but we'd never heard them until we saw them. It took us TWO songs before we realized.....NO guitars! :)
We bought a CD at the show....my sister is supposed to burn it and give it to me.....I'm STILL waiting.

I've been listening to an east coast band called Dirty On Purpose lately. I really like them. They're a guy/girl band. Hopefully one of these days they'll get known enough to come to this part of the country. Thank god for internet.

I always hear about bands when they're over and done. Nonetheless, new (to me) this week is Lee Press-On and the Nails.

I'm adding this one to my list of CDs to buy. I completely dig NA's taste in music.
When Ralphie starts to complain about all the CDs I buy, I'll say, 'Lisa made me.' (Yeah, right.)

Well, I know I'll be buying the new Chicago Love Songs collection in a week, other than that I haven't bought anything.
It just too trusting to spend $20 on a cd that might suck.

If you've got iTunes, check out Sinister Dexter. They're swingin' cats, dig?
As a confirmed devotee of the Dark Horse Beatle, I have been trying to track down the songs he gave to other artists. Last week I found a good one called, "That Kind of Woman," with Gary Moore singing. And dig that slide guitar, man.
With a nod to Mamabot's DD thread. I like their new song, Astronaut, too.

I'm not sure if this fits in here, but I was looking for a place where people intro'ed themselves. Well, in case anyone is wondering about the "Nothing to Lose" tagline I picked, it's a song by Henry Mancini for the movie "The Party." (I saw some people with other "standards" such as "Come Fly Away", etc.)
I think it fits in to a tee with the general loungey theme here. What a great breezy melody. You can find a vocal & instrumental version of the on "The Party" soundtrack, as well as a throwback yet modern faux-"live" lounge arrangement on the Sacre Bleu CD by Dmitri From Paris.
Lovely, lovely melody. Lyrics are decidedly forthright and sexy. Definitely worth checking out esp if you like lounge music, and/or another great Mancini tune besides Moon River.
The lyrics go:
Nothing to lose, If we are wise, We're not expecting rainbow-colored skies, Not right away.
Nothing to lose, It might be fun, No talk of spending lifetimes in the sun, Although we may.
Both you and I have seen what time can do, We'll only hurt ourselves if we build dreams that don't come true.
What can we lose, We know the score, Let's wait before we talk of evermore, One day we may.
Nothing to lose, But much to gain if love decides to stay. Nothing to lose.
